I used to stand at the edge of the driveway and watch you drive out of sight,
Watch you drive that eighteen wheeler into the night.
I would wait by the phone praying you were alright,
Praying when I heard a jackbrake I would see you rolling into sight.I would live weeks on end with your goodbye kiss,
Hoping the next holiday you would not miss.
Wishing you were here to warm me in this winter bliss.I would brag in school that my daddy was a trucker,
Kids would laugh and say you were such a sucker.
Only deadbeats did jobs like be a trucker,
I would then reply that you being a trucker I couldn't be luckier.I always watch you ride away as I wave,
These memories I cheerish and save. When you leave I get all blue,
Because when your gone I miss you.
I pray that i'll be with you,
And keep an eye on your truck too.
love you daddy :)
