About Me

..Hi there -My name's Will Kaufman and I'm a filmmaker out of Texas. The long and the short of it is, I love, live and dream movies. I grew up on the move, living in the London England, Bangkok Thailand, and here in the States. Out of college I jumped into the industry as an intern in movie special effects. I got to work with some real geniuses and learned an incredible amount. Guys who had worked with everyone from Oliver Stone to James Cameron. Moving on from f/x, I started working as a 2nd unit director and producer in the commercial world. At the same time I did a few short films.I think for me, The Prodigy was my natural next step. Along with my little band of brother filmmaker's, we scrounged together a beat up old CP16 and a few hundred feet of short ends and got to work. Inspired from our script we spent the next two weekends making the best damn fake movie trailer we could possibly pull off. From there we shopped the trailer around for a while before finally stumbling into our "executive producer". With a hell of a lot more passion than anything else, we ignored all the advice to wait for more money and started shooting. In a lot of weird ways we shot it like a studio picture - think long shooting schedule, big gun battle special effects etc... but in more ways it was total guerrilla film making at its worst. A crew of about nine, incredibly long hours, horrible catering, and paychecks that made welfare look very appealing. For what it's worth I sincerely hope you dig the film.***As for what's next for me... I'm now looking forward to my sophomore effort, "Sinners & Saints", a crime drama set in New Orleans.
