Right now I am staying home with my son, he has been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. I am trying to learn how to help him. It is quite difficult to accept, and I really need all the support that I can find. My son turned 5 on Valentine's Day this year. He was diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum in December 2006. We have also been told he is borderline for Fragile X Syndrome. He has a really hard time with echolatia, where he tries to imitate every word and sound he hears at times. We took him to a Therapist who evaluated him, only after 3 times of seeing him, came up with the determination and pretty much told us we were on our own to find resources. Gave us a couple of pamplets and sent us on our way. He hasn't been referred to a speech therapist, and now since he's been on Medicaid kids connection, I have been informed that they DO NOT cover Autism related care. They informed me that "they do not see AUTISM as a disorder!" That really made me upset them telling me that. I couldn't believe that they were telling me that...so that any care he receives for "Autism" related therapy that we should seek other resources. What a bunch of crap!!! Between having a teenage daughter with Type 1 Diabetes, a son with Autism and having thyroid problems of my own, life is just so much fun....not!I am trying to get as many people in my network of friends as I can, not for the "numbers", but for knowing that if I'm having a bad day, I can talk to others that are going through the same thing as me. I also want everyone to know that I am here as well, so if anyone is having a bad spectrum day, I'm here....talk to me! I may not know a whole lot yet about autism, but I am learning. And I am very willling to help people as much as I can. Right now I am working at building up work I can do at home, so I can stay here and help my son instead of taking him to a daycare, where they have him hang out with 18-24 month olds. A friend of mine and me are baking Amish dessert breads that we sell. There are currently about 40 flavors we make. I also create video montage scrapbooks on DVD. I have a website I am currently working on to promote the video scrapbooks and photo editing that I do.

Check it out! On the demos page, I have a TRIBUTE TO OUR TROOPS.....be sure to check it out, and pray for the troops over there to come home safe. I also created one for my friends here on MySpace with pictures of our kids and to help build autism awareness. Here in Nebraska there's basically not too much for services and support where I am located. Too many cows and cornfields for many services of that in a big city.
