I was a lazy bum in high school. The kind of kid who everyone thought was incredibly smart, and would easily get accepted to a top university. Well, not doing any schoolwork in HS earned me a ridiculously low GPA and what do you know, I was forced to attend community college. Should have seen the looks on the faces of the 1389043 people that asked me where I was going senior year in HS when I told them I was going to a CC. Amusing, but depressing at the same time. These people really thought I was going to be going somewhere, and I’m afraid at the time that I disappointed not only them, but myself as well. Disappointing my teachers, in particular, hit me hard.
But it's okay; I actually kind of like it at community college, the small class sizes really do it for me. In any case, I’m not so lazy anymore. I have fallen in love with school and most particularly, chemistry. I’m a chemistry TA, a chemistry stockroom assistant, I'm an undergrad researcher in a chemistry research lab at UC Davis, and I will (hopefully) tutor chemistry at Laguna Creek High School...and so on. I now possess a GPA that I’d like to think is the exact opposite of the abysmal one I had in HS, and I’m diligent in doing all my school work and studying. I'd like to think that I'm at least beginning to make up for my atrocious high school academic career…well enough, hopefully, that Stanford will think me a worthy transfer student to their university.
And it would be pretty sweet to be accepted to their medical school as well.
