About Me
James Ting, is a Canadian Chinese songwriter and music producer. He is recognized for making poppy fast catchy melody as well as groovy dance music permeate in the Chinese public.
After finishing his study in Audio Engineering at Trebas Institute of Recording Arts, Toronto, Canada. His career started as a composer for theme song of the biggest kids TV show in 1994. A year later, in 1995, he became as a full time musician doing music composing, arrangement for the major local artist in Hong Kong.
Moreover in 1995, James has worked as a music director in the local TV station- TVB. In 1996, he collaborated with 2 computer graphic artist to form a multi media group Freaks Rendezvous
, a mainly electronic music group, which released their first CD " Everybody is a Super Star" under Sony Music, in 1998.
During 1999-2000, James has worked closely with Asian pop Singer song writer Dick Lee under Sony Music. Together they have produced several albums for singers ranging from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
However, in 2000s , James was spending much of his time writing and producing many songs for other musicians and singing groups. He was also an early pioneer of electronic music in Hong Kong, and came to stardom in the 2002 as producer with a long string of hits with artists such as Aaron Kwok, Andy Lau, Fiona Sit, Shine, Cookies, Joey Yung, 2R, Twins, Gigi Leung, Sammi Cheung, Wilfred Lau, etc.
In 2003, he won a pitch battle of a national promotional campaign of AIDS in China. Among 35 professional composers from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, James' song," Walk Together" was being choosen as the main theme song of the Campaign.
From 2002-2005, James has produced several new singer/group ( Shine, Cookies, Fiona Sit, Wilfred Lau ) and all of them won many different awards from varies music awards including Best new singer of the year ( Shine -2002, Fiona Sit- 2004 )
Starting from the summer 2005 to March 2006, James was showing up as a regular in house music guru, performer of the TV show,"Sprite music unlimited 360" in TVB. which he got a chance to jam and remix music with many local artists "live" on air every Saturday afternoon.
