Jesse Cahill is known and respected as one of the foremost drummers on the Canadian Jazz scene. He started playing drums at a young age worked his first professional gigs at 16 in restaurants and clubs in his hometown of Victoria, British Columbia. In 1993 Jesse moved to Montreal to study music at McGill University, graduating in 1999 with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance.Influenced by the Jazz and R&B greats of the 1940s, ’50s and ‘60s, Jesse has worked with jazz legends like David “Fathead†Newman, George Coleman, Red Holloway, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Charles MacPherson and Don Thompson as well internationally recognized artists such as Brad Turner, Phil Dwyer, Michael Kaeshammer, Eric Alexander, Joe Magerelli and Jim Rotondi.Jesse’s recording resume includes sessions with the Juno nominated and National Jazz Award winning Jodi Proznick Quartet, Phil Dwyer's Sax Summit, The Brad Turner Quintet, The Tilden Web Trio Featuring Fathead Newman, Cousin Harley and many others. He has also been featured one the radio nationally on CBC Jazz Beat, West Coast Performance and many other live CBC concert broadcasts.Since relocating to Vancouver in 2002 Jesse has become a popular sideman in demand for studio and live performance and is the first call for many visiting internationally acclaimed artists. Jesse is also a committed teacher, offering private instruction and clinics on the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island as well as being an instructor at Vancouver Island University.Jesse plays some old GreTsch drums and a bunch of broke ass Zildjian Cymbals cause that's what he digs--------------------------------------------------------
