About Me
K-Divas
Diva, derived from the Latin word divus/diva; "Divine one."
Kameena and Khalilah Ballard-Dawkins are identical twin Singer/Songwriters and Recording Engineers from Los Angeles, CA. K-Divas has been making a name for themselves in the music industry through their affiliations with camps such as The Compound (producing such artists as Ne-Yo and Sixx John), The Underdogs (Luke & Q) and The Co-Stars' Vito and Neely (Tierra Marie and R. Luna). Their talents don't just end with Hip-Hop/R&B - the group has even branched out into the Latino genre of Reggeton with tracks written in half Spanish and English as well. While best known for their writing, the group also looks forward to being recognized for their vocals and live performances as well by way of radio drops, background vocals, session collaborations, voiceovers, ringtones, and voice ringers. Being classically trained in Italian and English the Twins aspire to prove to not only be fame seekers but experts in their field.
Raised with a midwest sensibility but possessing a more global approach to their craft, their business entity involves a music production company and online distribution through their website www.k-divas.com. Recognizing the rapid changes within the recording industry, K-Divas began their internet venture to help market and promote their music world-wide. In addition to songwriting and recording, the twins are even playing a role in helping to revolutionize "pod fitness" as well. They currently are the subject of a reality show centered around health and fitness on The Discovery Health Channel. Their activities can be tracked on their very own fan site dedicated to them due to their work for the network in conjunction with L.A. based, LMNO Productions. Although their current work in front of the camera is found on the small screen, the girls are no stranger to the silver screen as well. The twins have feature roles in the upcoming Warner Bros. release "Show Stoppers."
Their image is clean cut, stylish and confident. Kameena and Khalilah have never waivered in their belief in themselves or each other. The two moved to Los Angeles to pursue their dreams - first becoming certified recording engineers, then ASCAP songwriters and eventually business owners. In light of what they've accomplished, the twins make it a point to give back whenever possible. Aside from their work in the entertainment industry, Kameena and Khalilah have also reached out to team up with such charities as Spotlight on Sisters Foundation for the benefit of young girls in foster care and Dove's "Real Women" campaign. The girls will be the first to tell you they wouldn't be where they are today without their biggest supporter, inspiration, mentor, and teacher - their Grandmother, Sarah, who just recently fell victim to a bout with lung cancer.
With their traditional influences, K-Divas does not prescribe to today's industry practice of simply turning groups into marketing machines. They've rooted their careers in hard work and determination, vowing to remain true to themselves and their music. They represent a different breed of performer - whereas most acts lean on the crutch of recycled club lyrics bereft of any cause or emotion, the twins prefer to write about what moves them - love, joy and life. Their music is intense, vibrant, and passionate; a magnetic mix between glamorous, serious yet sensual. A vibe that puts you in the mind of Mary J. Blige or Alicia Keys, yet you'd swear you heard a little En Vogue in there somewhere.
Amongst all their talent, personality, charm and beauty, K-Divas maintains their humility. Overall, Kameena & Khalilah, K-Divas look forward to a bright future and longevity in the entertainment industry spanning all styles and genres on camera and behind the scenes. Until then, the Twins stay prayerful, just waiting for the proper opportunity to meet preparation, matching luck with destiny!
