Our new company will create a unique way of recycling that could change the way America thinks about the estimated 55 million tons of inert waste (i.e. concrete and brick) that it produces annually. As a material recovery facility, we will divert a community’s inert waste from landfill disposal and transform it into a venue for cultural arts and entertainment. Working with the parks and recreation department, we will direct source-separated inert waste to a municipally-owned location. There it will be compacted and formed into a bowl-shaped amphitheatre, then covered in topsoil and planted with grass. This project will be funded by the “dump fees†customarily paid by contractors to dispose of these materials. By combining the needs of the construction industry with those of the community, our company will incorporate green building with recycling, while producing a profit. The completed amphitheatre, or Ecoloseum, will generate ticket sale and event rental revenue, providing for its own maintenance, as well as other parks and recreation programs.
