About Me
A young veteran in the making, the twenty four year old Vallejo native is THE force to be reckoned with when it comes to nightlife, mixtapes and turntable skills.
The hip-hop culture has been a huge factor in his life, and his early experiences include observing his cousin mixing, scratching and head spinning on records at family parties in the early 90s. Gio started to take interest in the DJ business in 1996 and was heavily influenced by him. He would learn basic mixing and scratching skills from his cousin and would later meet and join The Full Force DJs. Joining The Full Force DJs provided Gio with the chance to spin at parties (both private and house), dances and school rallies. While attending a rally at Vallejo's Hogan High School, he introduced himself to KMEL radio personalities Chuy Gomez and Rick Lee. One year later his eagerness to learn, passion for music and turntable skills would earn him an intern position with Rick Lee's reputable and elite Style Beyond Compare DJs or SBCDJs for short. You can find him spinning at Club NV every first Saturday of the month, and his current projects include collaborating with platinum recording artist E-40 on the V-Town's Finest mixtape and the recently completed Federation/Kinsmoke presents UNDAFLOW Vol. 1 mixtape.
After hearing the Federation/Kinsmoke presents UNDAFLOW Vol 1 mixtape, Dragon Style Rick Lee of the SBCDJs & 106KMEL said:
"This mixtape is really some Yay Area talent at its best..blends, scratches, punches, kicks..B A M!!! You got knocked the F@..$ out SMOKEY!!!"
After you hear a DJ Gio mixtape, you will hold the same sentiments as Rick Lee and beg for more! With his skills gaining national attention, Gio was invited to attend the exclusive Power Summit convention in 2004 held in Puerto Rico. He seized the opportunity to attend the convention and released the Mixshow Power Summit 2004 mixtape with Dragon Style Rick Lee. In 2005, he was once again offered the chance to attend the Power Summit in the Bahamas and considered it an opportunity to make a massive impact on the hip-hop industry. He attended the convention and released The Power Summit 2005 mixtape with Dj John B, which was hosted by Stat Quo.
"Gio from the SBCDJ crew in the Yay makin it happen, like da major captain he is, slappin ya'll in the foeheads with them West Coast mixtape slummpers!" --DJ Alvin D, Violator All-Star DJ
"DJ Gio got some of the hottest mixtapes on the street, I call him the young hustla." --Balance, Bay Area Mixtape/Recording Artist
With seven mixtapes released and three more coming soon, it's obvious that Gio has been spreading his hustle and staying true to his Bay Area California roots. Gio's skills and love for music extend beyond the DJ circles and hip-hop world. In 2004, he completed the Recording Arts program at Diablo Valley College, which consists of music literature, music business and hands on multitrack recording courses using industry standard Pro Tools and Logic software applications.
"Amongst the youngsters who try to do their thing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Gio proves to be one who is well determined to rise above the rest with cutting edge mixtapes, million dollar mouthpiece, and a mind state to deal great business." --DJ E ROCK, SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO Hip Hop Nation 40 / VP of Promotion, SHADYVILLE DJs, LIQUOR BARREL MANAGEMENT
Understanding the business aspect of music has forged Gio into a powerful mover and shaker in the California Bay Area and Sacramento markets and paved the way for his success and longevity within the hip-hop ranks. His ultimate goal is to provide good music for the fans, extend his network base and become THE prominent force in the entertainment industry.
