I just watched "Who Killed the Electric Car" and I recommend it. Although, view at your own risk. My wife said: "I finally figured out why I kept falling asleep every time I watched it: it's BORING. So they shouldn't have killed the electric car. I get it. End of movie."
Reading "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" by Ian Flemming right now.I finally finished "Collapse" by Jared Diamond! ...because Guns Germs and Steel was a little too daunting in size (but the PBS TV version was very approachable. I have it on tape if you want to borrow it). I'm also reading "Created in Darkness by Troubled Americans;" the Humour compendium from McSweeny's; in short bursts. It is funny, but I can't read it in bed because I laugh like a retarded jackal, which prevents Sara from falling asleep peacefully. Please read these books: "Amazing Grace" and "Savage Inequalities" by Jonathan Kozol "Lies My Teacher Told Me" "Ender's Game" "Foundation" et al "Nickel And Dimed" "Bomb The Suburbs" "No More Prisons" "Naked" "Asphalt Nation"Thanks for reading.
It may be cliche to say, but--educators. Especially now. I salute those who have invested any effort in this field, only to be thanked with misguided policy and insufficient resources. In Washington State, we'll have a chance to fix a part of the problem (with November's ballot)--it's called "supermajority," and its rediculous. Check out this video: Also, I have pretty high regard for Ghandi and Sociologist Jonathan Kozol. And Steve "The Chef" Scheffler.
