George Wakfer is the singer in Cornish Prog-Metal band 'Boden' from Penzance in Cornwall (BODEN LINKS - myspace.com/kissmygingerass, myspace.com/kissmyhairyass, soundclick.com/bodenuk). When he isnt screaming and jumping around with Boden he is sat in his bedroom with an acoustic guitar, tape recorder, coffee and cigarettes and is focusing on his softer side. Still conveying all the emotion he puts into Boden but in a lonely and slightly more moving manner.
George started his musical rollercoaster ride at the age of 3 when his dad brought him a toy drum kit.
When he was 10 he picked up an acoustic guitar and played for the school orchestra, then it was the influence of the 'Bill and Ted' movies that made him want to pick up an electric guitar and rock!
In his first year at secondary school he joined forces with best friend Jude Moore and formed the band Agression which later became the well known Penwith funk/rock kings Toe Jam.
When George and Jude discovered heavy metal they formed 'Stalefish' and George went back to bashing his pagan skins in 2000 - '01 duriing the nu-metal peak.
University split this band just before George discovered the Oasis Cafe in 2002. Here, he joined forces with his little brother, Carl, and started lead singing (which was a big step for the intreverted backing singer) to form 'Refkaw', a rock/acoustic pop band.
In 2003 'Boden' kicked off, where George put down his guitar and started to scream and use his voice in all sorts of ways, even bursting blood vessels all around his eyes during the first 'Boden' jam.
In 2004 local metal/screamo band 'Obsydian Tears' needed a new drummer so George returned to the drums yet again and played in both bands until Jan 2006 where he left OT in order to focus on 'Boden' and his solo material, you could call him the Dave Grohl of Penwith.
