About Me

About me: A Warrior That Worships
I am a hard working individual who enjoys art, design, business, and technology. I consider myself to be an innovative and creative thinker. I love learning about new things and broadening my horizons. I never limit myself to anyone thing or avenue - I am a firm believer that "knowledge is power".
I've studied computer programming with a major in Computer Information Sytems (CIS). I also hold various certifications from accredited schools in the field of Web Administration, Programming, and NetworK Administration. After three years of study at a prominent business school. I transferred to community college to study illustration and design.
After which, I later found freelance work doing art Jobs within the New York / New Jersey Metropolitan area.
In 2004, I received my B.A. in Visual Communications (Multimedia and Graphic Design), while living in Arizona. I'm currently working as Systems Analyst for Metlife, while attending classes online for my Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Illustration (MFA).
Technology has always been my hobby but art has always been my one true passion.
In reality, I am very much a Martial Arts fanatic. I've had some training or knowledge of the arts ever since I can remember.
My father served in the U.S. Army back in the early to mid 50's. My father, John H. Drew Sr. spent most of his service time in places like Okinawa, China, and Korea.
While in Korea, My father developed a fascination with the training of the Korean military men, the Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROK Marines), and the Republic of Korea Army (ROK Army).
Many Korean soldiers were also very fascinated with my fathers training, who happened to be a proficient boxer (semi-pro fighter) and street fighter from New Jersey.
My dad trained regularly, he had his own particular method(s)or technique regarding the art of pugilism. Some of which I’m just now understanding after his passing some four years ago.
After much dialogue with other Korean military men and fighters, my father would later fall under the martial arts tutelage of a Korean KATUSA (Korean Augmentation Troops to the United State) who was an expert in Tang Soo Do.
I remember my dad having a great deal of knowledge concerning Judo, Boxing, Tang Soo Do, and Okinawan Karate. My father discussed how his teacher prompted him to mix his boxing with his other skills - long before Bruce Lee (Jeet Kun Do), UFC (Ultimate Fighting Champion), or commentary from Black Belt Magazine became part of today's popular culture.
My father had been for the most part an innovator, long before the popularity of today’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
I started dabbling and researching various martial arts forms when I was about 16 years old. I had this desire to try and learn as much as possible about everything in regards to mental and physical combat.
I started dabbling and training whenever and wherever I could. I've studied Hap Ki do for a few years, along with Arnis, Jiu Jistsu, Shaolin Five Animals, Hung kuen, and some muy thai. I've even had a friend teach me some Krabi Krabong. All of this in addition, to having knowledge of Okinawan and Korean karate and some training in judo and boxing - which I learned from my father.
"So far as the artist is concerned, the unlimited extent of human experience is not so important for him as the depth and intensity with which he experiences things."-Thomas Wolfe
