hide and seek champion, the story it's beyond hard being, not yet twenty, in a small town, and being the national hide and seek champion, three years running.
with such great accomplishment at the tender age of nineteen, it's hard not to fall victim to the expectation of the hundreds of tens of adoring fans, but that's exactly what happened to andrew.
"i could hide andre the giant in a dollhouse....i was that damn good...and he's dead! i had the world at my fingers and women at my feet and it got to a point where i'd be forced to say, grandma, mom, please you're embarrassing me. get up....love you."
seven years passed, his star faded, and he turned to drugs, and so began a torrid love affair with what lay beneath pill bottle tops. his lavish apartment above the safeway was littered with empty pill jars, almost laughing in his face. it seemed like all of bedrock was in on the joke, as flinstone vitamins had become his harsh mistress and fred and barney and the entire hanna barbera crew were mocking his existence on his floor. soon, the hide and seek champion was performing his greatest feat ever.....hiding.......from himself.
while out, offering himself up for his next fix, he stumbled into an underground wrestling bout. it was there he met the man who would overnight, change his life.
this man was one half of the now infamous duo, cookies and cream, and he was also a pacifist narcissist, which hindered his ability to wrestle, but too full of himself to admit it, and his peaceful approach to winning a grappling contest left cream all alone, no cookie to dip into him.
after leaving the venue, cream, or kevin, as his mama calls him, while rooting through his my pet monster duffel bag to find his vitamins, bumped into a sorry sack. they collided in a beautiful mess and bam bam, wilma, and barney circumvented the happy accident, in the form of fruity chewable tablets. neither moved, neither taking their eyes off the other. they knew they were supposed to meet this way.
after an excruciatingly painful few minutes of awkward silence, they then realized they had nothing at all to talk about. so andrew spoke up, leading him to the conversation that would change his life.
"so, do you play any instruments or anything?"
"no, you?"
"nope......umm, so, do you like abba?"
"do i?!? wanna start a band or something?!"
"do i!!!?!"
and there it was. two men, driven by placebo driven addictions to children's vitamins, wrestling, and abba. they plan on releasing an album this year, if kevin can find andrew......he wasn't the national hide and seek champion, three years running, for nothing, and kevin would kick his ass when he found him, if he believed in that sort of thing.

Hide and Seek Champion (Broken Oak)
Don't let the silly name fool you: Way to Go, Einstein isn't a goof-pop combo striving to be the next Barenaked Ladies. Instead, the Vancouver band has grander musical ambitions that seem to be equal parts Coldplay and Sigur RÓs. Singer Andrew Carter's delivery is often tremulous and unpolished, but his melodies soar to the heavens, and are backed by lush beds of reverb-treated guitars and synthesizers. It's a gorgeous sound, and if it lacks a little in the hooks department, so what? Something tells me that the members of Way to Go, Einstein would rather be some lonely soul's late-night-headphones favourite than a top-40 act anyway. Now, if they could only do something about that name before someone books them as the support act on a Moxy Früvous reunion tour.
