About Me

I'm a Portland-based guitarist. I often switch between traditional pick playing and fretboard tapping, and many of my guitar sounds are modeled, layered, or synthesized in one way or another. I also play an electric coral sitar, a 10-string Chapman Stick, dobro, lap steel, and have been seen in public faking the cello or the trumpet. Previously, I've played with Brainwarmer, The Lions of Batucada, Kings on Straw Mats, Spilling Static Orchestra, Ancient Chinese Secret, and The Gone Orchestra.
Currently, I gig with Tres Gone -- a free-improv quartet featuring Mike Mahaffay (drums), Scott Steele (guitar), and Fred Chalenor (bass). I also perform solo electronic guitar shows, sometimes improvising soundtracks to experimental films (mine and others). If you look off to your left, you will notice "Ramlee," a video edit I created out of an old Malaysian film starring P. Ramlee.
If your inner geek is interested in the details of my current live rig, here it is: Brian Moore USB/GK iGuitar 91.13, Roland VG-99, a pair of Roland KC-500 amps, and an assortment of singing bowls, tabla, congas, bongos, as well as other metal and wood type items that produce sounds that go clang! ping! and bang!
I'm inspired by all sorts of styles, sounds, and ideas; musical and otherwise. If you like what I'm doing, feel free to contact me. Perhaps we can collaborate and create something bold, new and unusual.
Below you'll find my currently available albums, available for purchase as a physical CD (which I will personally mail to you), or downloadable via iTunes. Enjoy.

RAMLEE - This is a Malay film from the 60's I revisualized and remixed the original video of. Using a guitar synthesizer, an electric sitar, and some sound processors, the soundtrack you hear is what I performed live, improvising as the audience viewed the film. Please excuse the audio glitchiness during the first few minutes. No matter how much you prepare for a live event, it's practically miraculous if there are no technical difficulties. Toward the end of the film, Ramlee's wife, Saloma, can be heard singing "Di Mana Kan Ku Cari Ganti" in a hauntingly beautiful way. A song originally written and recorded by P. Ramlee, this version by Saloma was recorded shortly after her husband's untimely death.
