BIO European born Producer/DJ Mic Newman made the journey at a young age to Melbourne Australia, a city deeply embedded in a culture of diversity and talent, which has produced some of the world’s finest dance music artists.
Gigs with world-renowned club Onelove and music empire Future Entertainment have earnt Mic credibility as his career has gained momentum. Naming Trentemoller, Switch and duo Tiefschwarz as influences, Mic’s DJ sets often feature their trademark tracks and remixes. His raw talent has led Mic to work alongside many of dance music’s finest, such as Felix da Housecat, Serge Santiago, Tiga, Mason, Alex Kidd, Dirty South, Paulo Mojo and Benny Benassi.
Shortly after beginning his career as a DJ, Mic took his creative ideas to the next level. With a strong musical upbringing Mic’s aptitude to compose and produce music came naturally. His hard work and determination in the studio drew attention and in 2005 was ultimately commissioned by major label SonyBMG to remix one of Australia’s leading commercial pop artists. Mic was quickly picked up Melbourne House Label Vicious Grooves in 2006 and in 2007 released his debut single “Rhythm To Ya Hipsâ€; an electro smash hit that caused waves at home and abroad, also making its way on to various compilations, including the coveted Ministry of Sound Sessions 4.
In recent times this young producer has seen himself remixing the likes of Dirty South, Paul Harris, Richard Dinsdale, Se:Sa and Mason, also gaining strong support from UK house mogul Pete Tong with he's remix of Electro F's "Superstar Break" (Lowered) gaining various airplays on BBC’s RADIO 1, Mic’s achievements have come quickly and have become synonymous with leading international labels, which include Toolroom, Positiva, Great Stuff, Lowered Recordings, Spinout, Rebirth and Peppermint Jam.
Mic is no stranger to successful collaborations either, having partnered with local producer Lewie Day to produce their debut collaborative EP “Hermione†– featuring the cult monster “Blasphemy.†Released through German label 8 Bit Records, ‘Hermione-EP’ drew support from some of the world’s leading underground artists; Marc Romboy, Audiofly and Steve Lawler. This release showcases Mic’s evolution as a dance music producer and along with his long string of world-class productions, Mic’s simple yet devastating trademark sound is rapidly infecting the consciousness of the world’s underground elite!
