Tired of scanning the Melbourne musical horizon for that electronic El Nino to blow away those low-pressure letdowns and barometric blues? Then wack on your wellies, grab your gumboots and unfurl your umbrella because tonight’s forecast is for a Lilstormer.
Originating in Kent in the UK, this feisty Lilstormer has been growing in intensity over the past eight years as a founding member of the Brunswick Massive DJ collective and through her weekly residency at the Lambs Go Bar in Fitzroy. The rumblings continued to grow louder and more ominous through further electrifying residencies with the Brainstorm Sessions at Republika, Canvas at Lounge and Hot Wax Salon at Bunker Lounge.
Never one to be tied to any particular climate, Lilstormer is known to forecast bouts of thunderous breakbeat, intermittent stabs of ominous electro and steady bursts of chunky house, all swirling into dizzying downpour of dancefloor destruction. As she whips up her musical maelstrom Lilstormer’s cheeky grin and fist-pumping antics behind the decks are the fun-filled barometer that sets temperatures rising like a searing Northerly on a balmy summer day.
This unique blend has seen her showered with gigs at some of Melbourne’s favourite events, including Fractured, Gimme A Break, 33 1/3, Earthcore and Traincore, whilst also supporting the like of Koma & Bones, Myagi and Superstyle Deluxe. Not content to breeze through on her own, Lilstormer also causes twice the mayhem playing as Brainstorm with Brain and as The Lils with Lil miSbreaks.
