About Me

Brian Scherman performs and composes creative music throughout the Northeast, in a variety of settings. Brian has performed at The Blue Note (NY), the 55bar (NY), The Tea Lounge (NY), Ryles Jazz Club (MA), and The House of Blues (MA), with John Scofield, David Binney, Ralph Alessi, and others. In addition to Hans Blix, Brian can be heard most often performing with the Josh Myers quintet.
Brian's musical groundwork was laid at the University of Colorado Boulder then crystallized at the New England Conservatory finishing with a Masters degree from New York University. He studied improvisation with Ralph Alessi, Michael Cain, Wayne Krantz, Bob Moses, Jerry Bergonzi and others. Technical saxophone studies were with the insightful Tom Myer and then Ken Radnofsky (student of Joe Allard). Brian is an educator, having been faculty at St. Georges Prep Acadamy in Newport, RI, hosting open sessions (in addition to being Director of Website and Press) for the Center for Improvisational Music, and currently teaching one on one sessions at Apple in Manhattan.
