The Formula airs every Sunday from 1-3PM EST on http://www.radiovolta.org It was started in October 2003 by DJ Primetime, Fredy Blast and Skeme Richards. All sharing a similar view on hip hop, they decided after DJ'ing as a collective, that the time was right to start a radio show. With all three DJ having previous experience as radio DJ's, the transition to live internet radio was inevitable.
Their prior radio experience includes: Fredy Blast as DJ Groove Da Moast from Bahamdia's B-Sides on 103.9, Skeme Richards as his partner in crime, and DJ Primetime having residencies on stations in Massachusettes, New York and Philadelphia.
The Formula has quickly evolved into a highly regarded show not only in Philadelphia, but all over the world via the internet. Their precise mixing, candid commentary, dope guests and knowledgeable discussions on hip hop make for an exciting journey each week.
The show has allowed all three members to evolve within the hip-hop community. Using their own beats to provide the backdrop for their interviews and freestyle sessions, led to Sesion31 (the production team of Fredy Blast and Skeme Richards) to get work on MF Doom's "Viktor Vaughn - Venomous Villain" album and Access Immortal's "Shades of Reality" album. All of their production has been used on all of the freestyles on DJ Primetime's "Formula" mixtape series which has acted as another extension of the show.
Primetime's aforementioned mixtapes have become a commodity for the hip-hop fiends, involving hosting collaborations with: El Da Sensei, Encore, Vinnie Paz, Trek Life and J-Zone. All of the mixtapes are done in the vein of a "live" Formula radio show, with each hosting acting as the "guide" on your hip-hop ride.
As Fredy Blast and Skeme Richards' DJ exploits have kept them busy, producer extrodinare Vanderslice, Young H and the infamous Hollywood Cole have been brought into The Formula to join up with DJ Primetime to continue journeys of the Science Patrol.
