The Animations

About Me

A Band Review by Dr. Pete Venkman:The Animations are out of Chico California and up front these guys tell you on their website that they are heavily influenced by people that make bad decisions. No doubt you would have to question the decision-making ability of any band only made up of TWO PEOPLE; that’s right only two band members, one guitarist/vocalist (Beau) and a drummer/vocalist (Sean)…that’s it.The craziest thing about the Animations is that these guys work supremely well with their offbeat, comical stage presence and stellar musicianship – you would have to be in order to carry any audience with a two-piece.Speaking of two pieces…I was privileged enough to see the Animations at Club My Place a month back or so – and the ladies in attendance were amazing (JP I recommend you institute a some kind of bikini/wet t-shirt contest on Saturday nights – just a hint)…ok well now I am sounding like the creepy ice cream guy…so back to the Animations.Beau and Sean blend an indie, pop, rock vibe together into some great tunes. I can describe the Animations sound and presence as sort of like taking REM and giving them a sense of humor, and then mating them with the Barenaked Ladies. Add some residual epidural effects to this newly spawned love-child and there you have the Animations.Particularly noteworthy are their tunes SM, 1 Hit Wonder and Mushroom Caps…not only will these songs become part of your everyday playlist – but they will also have you cracking up.

Fending off the five-headed Metal Monster.
