Figaro (b.Steven L. Rubio 4/15/83) was born in Manhattan, New York. His musical diversity comes from his caribbean roots, born to both Dominican and Puerto Rican parents,Steven aka Figaro was relocated to Florida at an early age,and began to develope a rap style not known for a "latin" rapper.staying away from the stereotypes he stayed true to form and learn the southern style displayed by early influence like Outkast,Trick and JT Money but still maintaining that uptown flow displayed by the likes of Biggie,2Pac,and Big Pun.He took a little bit of all of them and combined them and added his own kinda "swag" to his sound.Freestyling at every chance he had with hope someone would take him on,he developed an aura of confidence, not found in alot of artist,he continued to master his craft. The progress of the mixtape circut allowed him to venture in that market and was featured on a lot of local DJ's mixtapes, and created a street buzz that allowed him to get noticed by local street legend,Al Stacks of Heavy G'z Entertainment. With Al's guidance,Fig was given direction and was starting to grow with his song writing abilities,It was that, that Al got Fig to record "Blowing Up my Phone" and was played on the local media markets and clubs. The buzz was rapidly growing as evident by his opening for accomplished acts, such as,Trick Daddy, LiL Wayne , Boosie, Jim Jones , Young Joc, Pit Bull, Cuban Link, Rick Ross, Don Dinero, and Juelz Santana. His first mixtape "This Aint Even the Album" went on to sell 6,000 copies in the streets. Not one to think that he "made it" he continued to work hard and finally received his first big break,by performing at the Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC in 2006 performing his street smash "Put Your Flags Up".The event was video taped and later became part of the DVD that featured Figaro. He has recorded a track with local Orlando representers,Treal, that went on to get national exposure called,U Cant B Serious. He is currently preparing his next mixtape called,Nitemare on Fig Street, which guareentees to be one for the books.2008 is shaping up to being the year of the Fig....Figaro.
As a child, his family decided to relocate to Florida. From an earlu age, he steadily began to debelop his ra, fresh out the box skills. Moreover, he often entertained, "Freestylin" in school hallways. Although, he transferred from various schools, it gave him the liberty to meet different people from diverse areas of the country.this would later contribute to the swag he bares in present day. With every opportunity, he found new ways to recreate style, perfect technique, and push talent towards new levels, each time. Additionally, his playful and upbeat personality still lives in his music, but only shadows behind the passion that makes Figaro the man and artist he is today.
As an adult, Fig moved north towards Orlando, Florida. Here is where he became an intricat part of Heavy G'z Entertainment, Inc, Under Self Management, He has accomplished several opening acts for various artist , including Trick Daddy, LiL Wayne , Boosie, Jim Jones , Young Joc, Pitt Bull, Cuban Link, Rick Ross, Don Dinero, and Juelz Santana. He also performed an anthem for the Puerto Rican Day Parade In New York City in 2006.
On a very personal level, he often explains, his main drive is his wife and kids. Apart from making a true mark in their lives, he hopes to leave them with the profits of his success, He admits. nothing is guaranteed in the music industry, however , with undeniable determination and fascination for the buisness, everything is possible. You be the judge!
While the southern flows of hood icons Outkast, Trick. JT Money, 2 Pac, Pun, and Biggy played an important role in the influencing of his profession, his natural gift and ability to rhyme will, without a doubt, stand tall against these legendary performers.
"........but this is not a dream for me, this is a reality. I am doing what some are still dreaming about. That's the difference.........it's a real buisness and if you call it a dream, well it's always going to be a dream........"
