Rachael Kilgour announces the release of her self-titled album.Recorded at Sacred Heart Music Center with Eric Swanson and produced by Haley Bonar, the album is Kilgour’s first.“This project was about three years in the making. For a long time, I have had the material, but lacked the know-how and connections to get the product I wanted,†said Kilgour. “These songs are so important to me; I couldn’t bear to release them prematurely. So through a long, long process of trail and error I finally figured things out; I met and worked with some of the most talented people in the area: the artists and graphic designer, the musicians and sound technician…Haley was so helpful as a producer. She’s obviously comfortable in the studio - very creative and very decisive. It was just what I needed.â€Rachael Kilgour’s 12 songs cover many aspects of the 24-year-old artist’s life, from social activism to heartache, love and a new family. Kilgour has made a name for herself as a singer-songwriter with her spot-on lyrics, captivating voice and energetic delivery. “It was such a challenge to try and capture myself and what makes me a memorable performer in this tiny piece of plastic,†Kilgour said, “but we did it and I am so happy with the outcome. I’m excited for people to hear it for the first time.â€The album features singer, guitarist and songwriter Rachael Kilgour; backup vocalists Adeline Wright and Haley Bonar; percussionist Dan Westerlund; bassist Matt Mobley; electric guitarist Jake Hanson; and instrumentalists Lance Rhicard and Kathy McTavish.Kilgour began playing the violin at age 10 and continued the pursuit at the University of Minnesota Duluth where she majored in music education.
