I am here for Friends

About Me

After years of believing i knew what i wanted out of life, a single summer has opened my eyes to another road and has put my feet along it's winding path. I recently spent months backpacking the Long Trail in the backcountry of New England relearning how to seize the moment and become honest with myself. Directly on the heels of my backpacking trip i worked as a Camp Counselor to some of the most amazing young men one could hope to meet. I taught them archery and riflery, how to rockclimb, backpack, and paddle a kayak. I was also blessed with the opportunity to impart to them my thoughts on what it means to be a man; more specifically, what it means to be a man of character and what God meant when he created "man". In return i learned the importance of what i was teaching. In seeking to impart wisdom to a group of earnest, mature, intelligent and adventurous teenage boys (and no those character traits are not mutually exclusive) i was forced to evaluate my own actions and life's path. For the time being i am bouncing back and forth between Louisiana and Charlotte, NC (helping my parents move back home to the swampland), spending as much time with friends and loved ones here in Charlotte as possible, and saving money so that i can effectively pursue my next adventure (of backpacking Europe for a year) before i head back to school in search of a more complete education.

I'd like to meet:

..."From this hour i ordain mysef loos'd of limits and imaginary lines, Going where i list, my own master total and absolute, listening to others, considering well what they say, pausing, searching, recieving, contemplating, Gently but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the holds that would hold me. I inhale great draughts of space, the east and the west are mine, and the northe and the south are mine. I am larger and better than i thought, i did not know i held so much goodness. All seems beautiful to me, I can repeat over to men and women You have done such good to me and i would do the same to you, I will recruit for myself and you as i go, i will scatter myself among men and women as i go, i will toss a new gladness and roughness among them, WHOEVER DENIES ME IT SHALL NOT TROUBLE ME, WHOEVER ACCEPTS ME HE OR SHE SHALL BE BLESSED AND SHALL BLESS ME."...Walt Whitman "Song of the Open Road"
