From the eastern side of Cleveland, Ohio comes a band years in the making. With only one intention in mind, domination. A full head-on collision of sound and fury. Color of Dawn is on the uprise. The bands name represents its mission statement: out of darkness and into glory. Songs of hardship, loss, and empowerment. An event as indescribable as the morning sky, Color of Dawn has to be witnessed first hand in order to be fully captured and comprehended.
Formed in late ’98 by guitarist Jason Kurzinger & drummer Josh Roscart, the first incarnation of the band was called Seventh Day (after a few trial names). Bassist Josh Riehl joined the band in the summer of 1999 along with vocalist Bill Page.
Seventh Day went on to play a couple shows at Peabody’s Downunder including the Battle of the Bands in which they tied for first place. However, due to creative differences and lack of dedication on the part of Mr. Page, his position in the band was terminated in the fall of 2000.
The band proceeded to work on instrumental recordings of their six songs with Jason producing, while searching for a new vocalist but everything seemed to be moving very slowly now, almost completely falling apart on several occasions. It wasn’t until late in 2002 when things finally started to look up again.
Enter Joe Warnick, a close friend of the band’s since its inception. Joe had always wanted to somehow be a part of the band and it had actually been discussed right after Bill was gone. It wasn’t until now though that it actually seemed like it might really work. Joe had a vision and although he had always been there it wasn’t until now everyone realized the vision could be achieved and he was now ready to step up and give it a go.
In the spring of 2003, the band really started to practice again and everything started to feel right. It was then that the decision was made to switch the name of the band to Color Of Dawn, completely putting and end to the "Bill Page Era" of the band. They started recording a five song EP of cover songs entitled Covering The Past in the summer, which was given out to about twenty of the band’s closest friends who had always supported them. This was more or less done for fun and to test Joe out. They wanted to let him get a feel for recording with some songs he was "comfortable" with and basically see how well his performance could be. By the end of recording in late fall of 2003, they were convinced Joe was the right guy for the job and now it was time to work on the lyrics for their own songs again, but with Joe.
2004 started out with the band deciding to write some new tunes. Three new songs in all and two heavily reworked old songs. That was the positive part. The negative part was that Joe slipped away from Color Of Dawn due to reasons personal to him and everything started to fall back apart. You see in the course of this band’s existence, it has been full of problems. Someone in the band had a period of time at some point or another that was full of doubt and lack of participation. Nothing ever really went their way and something was always working against them. But some how through it all they survived and stayed together, and yes even Joe, because now he is back and the band is soon to be firing on all cylinders. 2005 is the year that they will finally have what is rightfully theirs and all their hard work will pay off.
In 2005, Color of Dawn received major support from the Diecast management team. Coming back in full swing with several successful shows, new songs, and a 5 song E.P. that was recorded at Spider Studios with Ben Schigel of Switched. Color of Dawn has played with national acts such as Nothingface, Silent Civilian, and Switched and have even been on television. They won over the respect of many bands of every genre local and national. Color of Dawn went further than anyone ever expected or believed with little outside support or credit. This page is dedicated to a band that became victorious in a true underdog story. The eclipse of obscurity...
