About Me

ToolsForMySpace.comA native Texan, Jack T. Wright (J.T.) was born in Fort Worth in 1984. He grew up with a love of music listening to his father play albums from such greats as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra and Chuck Berry. His sister Rachel, the eldest of the Wright children, was given a guitar by her parents when J.T. was around 9 years old. It was several years later at the age of 12 when he picked it up and began to take an interest in playing. Virtually self taught, J.T. made his first stage appearance at the age of 15 while attending school at Fort Worths Arlington Heights. Auditioning for the Johnny High Show, he became too nervous and a f**k this later, walked off the stage. He spent the next year or so in high school spending his free time writing songs and poetry. It wouldnt be long however until J.T. took to the stage again. Within no time, he found his nerve and began performing at Billy Bobs Texas on Open Mic night during next several months and found his roots in Texas music.Within the next year, J.T. met Francis Walsh, who hosted a weekly songwriter showcase at the Red Garter Saloon in Grandbury, Texas. She signed him to perform at the show and he became an instant success receiving the L.S.M.A. New Artist award in 2001 and Best Artist award in 2002.During this same period, J.T. played for grateful audiences all around Fort Worth at places such as the Back Forty, The Moon, The Aardvark, The White Elephant and Stockyards Saloon.Upon graduation from high school, J.T. ventured out to West Texas to attend school at Texas Tech. It wasnt long however until he discovered that his heart wasnt into the whole regular college scene. After a semester or so at Tech, he left to attend the famed South Plains School of Music where he is continuing his musical education in both performance and theory. In addition to developing a repertoire of his own songs, he is currently working on several new albums which will be set for release in the near future. While not applying his craft in school or studio, J.T. plays hosts to audiences all over the Great State of Texas playing in cities such as Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Lubbock, Levelland, Amarillo, Midland/Odessa and El Paso. He is also venturing outside the state playing venues in New Mexico and Tennessee spreading Texas culture, music and heritage.
