About Skye Sweetnam:
Juno nominated Skye Sweetnam was born in the small town of Bolton, Ontario in Canada a mere 19 years ago, but she's accomplished more in that short time than many singers twice her age.
Already known to millions of girls around the world as the singing voice of Barbie, her skills as a singer and songwriter have gained her a steady stream of work in both films and television programs across the globe. She has become a regular contributor to the Disney Mania albums, and won critical acclaim both for her work on those and for her original soundtrack recordings.
Despite her impressive body of work for some of the biggest and most successful companies in the world, however, the effervescent and irrepressible Skye Sweetnam is at heart a solo performer, bringing her own inimitable brand of musical mayhem to the often moribund world of pop-rock with an eclectic collection of songs that are guaranteed to release the inner teenager in all of us.
Her distinctive voice is a perfect blend of youthful energy and enthusiasm, containing a sheer vibrancy that is wholly her own, yet still showing the vocal discipline of a much older performer.
Her critically acclaimed debut album, Noise From The Basement - released when Skye was only fifteen and including the hit single Billy S - has gained her a strong and growing following around the world; quite an accomplishment for what was originally intended as nothing more than a demo!
With a second album tentatively scheduled for release in early '07..., a Juno nomination before her eighteenth birthday and an impressive and ever growing list of international companies vying for her talents, this is one Skye who will soon be finding her place amongst the stars.
