NEW SONG..NEW SONG.. NEW SONG

About Me

Inspired by different influences in music, ranging from Spanish, Greek, and Middle Eastern genres, Malek Zavaro has emerged and blended the different genres to create a silky blend of modern American pop and traditional organic world music. With a smooth and silky voice, filled with passion and emotion, Zavaro’s voice and lyrics have moved many to tears and smiles, being hailed today as one of the most promising and emerging new talents the world has ever seen or heard.Writing his first song at the age of 8 to the “Olympic theme”, Zavaro, of full Syrian heritage, knew he was destined to write and sing his own music. “I was an extremely shy and picked-on kid growing up, so music was my escape. I remember listening to artists like Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, and George Michael, having my headphones on, and just singing…didn’t have a care in the world as long as the music was playing. It got me through tough times as a child since I didn’t have many friends.”A self-taught singer, with little to no vocal training, Zavaro learned how to sing properly by listening to the radio for hours daily as well as purchasing every tape and CD that he could, analyzing how each artist would sing until he created his own style. Zavaro states, “I was always moved by singers that had a lot of passion in their voices, never caring for the perfect voice or how long a singer can carry a note for, rather the ones that moved you like Andrea Bocelli, the Gipsy Kings, Michael Buble, Boyz II Men, and Enrique Iglesias, just to name a few. That’s how I learned how to be passionate with my voice. Producers would always tell me to sing that perfectly sustained note or belt out my lungs and I always disagreed. If a singer is singing a song about heart break, then the singer must express that in his or her song. For instance, I let my voice crack if it needs to crack, after all, I am singing about heart break, and no one sings prefect when their heart is broken. My singing is how I’m expressing the song, telling my story, so I have to feel exactly what I’m singing about.”While perfecting his craft and passion, writing consistently, not knowing which route to take to bring his dreams to life, fate intervened, re-uniting Zavaro with a long time high school friend, Julian Toma, in 1999. After a brief catch-up conversation, they both realized and discussed their common passion, music. With Julian Toma producing, Zavaro expressed his will to record his own songs and the start of Zavaro’s dreams and destiny had begun, recording a four song demo CD in Julian’s bedroom closet.Creating a smash local hit called “Breathe with Me,” which was featured as the actual wedding song for many weddings in San Diego, California to as far as Detroit, Michigan, both Zavaro and Toma knew they were on to something great. Calls began to pour in from Record Companies and management firms, expressing their interest and willingness to work with Zavaro. After a local buzz unfolded, Zavaro was extremely motivated to start working again, however, Zavaro knew that if he wanted his songs to be heard by the world and appreciated by the professionals, he needed help, wanting to capture that perfect organic and professional sound. He discussed working on his new CD with Julian Toma and he was a “Go!” He then contacted his friends Chris Saleh and Matt Battle, who also produce (Snoop Dogg, Bobby Valentino). They were also a “Go” on the project. All that was missing now was the professional sound quality, so Zavaro seeked the help of Andy Sciarrino, who had many contacts and connections in the music business. Andy, being a fan himself of Zavaro’s music, quickly introduced Malek Zavaro to Luis Artega, the owner of a famous San Diego based studio, Signature Sounds, where gigantic music icons such as U2 and Carlos Santana have recorded. Talks began and with Luis granting his blessings on the project, he decided to lend a helping hand, offering his studio for Zavaro’s project, knowing the future potential of the singer/songwriter.Malek Zavaro is in the near completion stages of his first CD, with a music video shoot scheduled late this winter for his first single. “I’m extremely excited, definitely a dream come true. I always waited for the day to act in my own music video, and more importantly, have my musical inspirations listen to my songs as I did and still do! I’m truly grateful to all my fans and friends who have supported me. Without their love, I’d still be a man with a dream, and with it, I’m unstoppable. I’m truly grateful for all who have contributed to my success, and with success I don’t mean selling millions of albums, rather, the ability to do what I love most!”

Influences: Gorgeous women...lolLet's see, musically, I'd have to say that I enjoy a vast array of music. Music that has influenced me ranges from Andrea Bocelli to Enirque Iglesias, from Arabic to Latin Music, and from Justin Timberlake to My Chemical Romance. I think what makes an artist great and versatile is his ability to absorb different genres of music and adapt to changing sounds in the vast media. Also, his/her ability to vision where music will be in the future, not too far ahead, rather, what the next thing will be. All the greats had that vision, from Elvis to Timbaland. I try to do the same. I also make it a point to make Timeless music. I dislike "dated" music, basically, a certain type of music that can be dated to a specific time period. I want the songs that I write to have a timeless feel, for the listener to not know when it was recorded. That is a key to making music classic and a singer an icon.
Sounds Like: Myself...when people ask what kind of music do you sing, I'm stuck, have no idea how to answer them. I think I've blended classical American melodies with Middle Eastern percussion, along with Latin strings. Call it world music or call it pop, it'll still give you goosebumps ;)
Record Label: That as well is coming soon
Type of Label: Indie
