About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
"Putugar the Phenom"......... His parents migrated to the states during the mid 80's from the West African nation of Liberia in the midst of political turmoil. First settling in Northwest DC, they then moved to Takoma Park, MD. It was here that Putu came in to existence. As the new addition (aka Takpah in his mothers native tongue of GIO) of a baby began to take its toll on them as they adjusted to life in the states, they sent him back to Liberia to stay with family. It was there he was greeted by his grandfather from whom he takes after, his older brother Jauz, along with African Child and many other family, relatives and close friends. As fate would have it, his grandfather took sick and eventually passed on which led to his father returning to Africa. Seeing the state of things in Liberia at that time, he thought it best to take a young Phenom back to the states along with the rest of their family eventually. The very next year the country fell into a bitter 14 year civil war conflict. Unfortunately, many would not make it and they would spend their years in America trying to contact and get relatives out of the situation the best they could. Settling in Silver Spring, MD, he would grow a strong passion for music at a young age. He and his brother would make a name rocking the keys or the drums in the Good Hope community and in and around local churches in the DC metro area. Starting off making beats on an old yamaha keyboard, he would move on to computers at a later stage. He would look up to local rhymers such as Jah Fury, who along with Jauz and other individuals, would plant the seeds for the 420 Crew. After internal family conflicts led to the family splitting, he would move to the ocean state that is Rhode Island. There, he continued music with J Heavy, Akinola, and Raviniz. Out of these associates, The Coalition was birth, which is an extension of the 420 Crew. Though difficult at times, he would go on to college while at the same time polishing his music craft. Along the way, he has practically lived and spent much of his time up and down the East Coast which has given him a broad scope on how people from all walks of life live day to day. His music strongly reflects his African roots, the places he has been, and everthing he has come to know. Whether it be from the streets, 9 to 5, school, or spiritual insights, it is what it is. He is the P.ure H.eart E.xperience N.oted O.n M.usic, hence the name PHENOM. He considers himself a musician in that he plays instruments, produces and also partakes in the vocal element of music through rapping and harmonizing. His style is no style, which like water, adapts to its environment. He intends to bring a fresh sound to music which brings people together and uplifts them at the same time. If you made it this far, you must be interested in what he and his folks are about, so check out their pages also in the top friends.
