My fiancee, Lorenne - the love of my life; My Band - This Question; The Beatles (one of the greatest gifts this planet ever got); Listening To Music; Playing Music; Discussing Music; Going On and On In Profiles On Myspace About (yep, you guessed it) Music; Great Conversations (that don't neccessarily have to be about music); Comedy; Books; Films; Cooking (Sometimes); The Drive Thru (Other Times); The Ocean; Concerts; The '40's; The '50's; The 60's; The '70's; People Who Think the 80's Were Crap; The '90's; England; Sleep; More Music; Marvelling At Stupid People; Absurd and Challenging Graphic Art and Painting; True Peace; A Good Barbeque With Good Friends; Enjoying Silence From Time To Time; But Still More Music; Pizza and Cold Stella Artois in a Glass.
Hmmmm... People who aren't full of shit, that's always nice (you'd think that would be a simple request, right?); People who do NOT put apostrophy's on pluralized word's (you all supposedly took English class in school, let's try to stick to the language we've all agreed on); People who don't take things like this profile so seriously!
People such as myself should never fill out things like this - where to start is easy, but where (and when) to end is ALWAYS a problem. I always realise after the fact who or what I left out, but here goes: The Beatles (they always come first), Dizzy Gillespie, Pink Floyd, Stereophonics, Count Basie, Kiss, Dexter Gordon, Oasis, Miles Davis, (they really should not give me a category like this to fill out) The Cream, The Duke Spirit, Rush, Billie Holiday, The Beatles, Dirty Pretty Things, Manic Street Preachers, Jeff Buckley, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, Supergrass, (this could be a Myspace page in itself) Pearl Jam, RUN-DMC, Slade, Stan Getz, The Libertines, Little Richard, Spiritualized, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, The Beatles, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols, Neil Young, The Hells, Otis Redding, Yes, Dead Head Stickers, Thelonious Monk, (blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda) Black Sabbath, Snow Patrol, David Bowie, Everclear, Blur, DMB, Louis Armstrong, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Public Enemy, Peter Gabriel/Genesis, The Jam, T. Rex, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash and U2. And The Beatles, just in case I didn't mention them - they're way too important not to include - whew! - I almost forgot!!! That'll do for starters, I guess. I choose not to listen to the radio because I enjoy keeping my faith in music! I also like old music and hate to have it ruined by half-wits that actually think we want to hear the same songs over and over, ad nauseum. Currently speaking, really getting into my band THIS QUESTION'S 'Top 24' on their page (This Question is on MY 'top 24'- just look at the upper center of the page at this point - and click on that thang - I'll be here when you get back) some truly great people making some truly great music are on that list, some well known, some unknown - but not if I have anything to do with it, haha. Also trying to take in the last 100 years of Jazz for the last 2 years or so. It's like getting into music all over again... Oh, and I'm also very into bands that wanna be my friend... Actually, all smartass bullshit aside, I'm actually 1000% sincere on that one.
'Jaws' (the greatest movie ever made); 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail'; 'The Exorcist'; Kevin Smith's Jersey Chronicles; 'Office Space'; 'Dog Day Afternoon'; 'Better Off Dead'; 'Citizen Kane'; 'Almost Famous'; the work of Michael Moore (any film will do); the work of Alfred Hitchcock (too many to list - you're welcome); 'The Godfather' saga; the 'Star Wars' saga; 'Caddyshack'; 'A Hard Day's Night'; 'High Fidelity'; 'Spinal Tap'; The 'Pink Panther' series (w/Peter Sellers); 'Patton'; 'Bad News Tour' (I think of it as a movie); 60's era James Bond with Sean Connery; 'RKO 281'; the 'X-Men', 'Batman' and 'Spider Man' movies; 'The Blues Brothers'; 'Grosse Point Blank'; 'Lord Of the Rings' saga; 'American Graffiti'; 'Animal House' - this could go on forever...
I'll have to just rattle off what I've liked from chidhood up till now because most television these days isn't worth a shit: Titus; That '70's Show; Behind The Music; Monty Python's Flying Circus; WKRP In Cincinatti; VH-1 Legends; Family Guy; The Addams Family; Tom and Jerry (yeah, I like cartoons - so what?); SNL (especially the 1975-80 cast); The Young Ones; Fawlty Towers; The Monkees; Discovery Channel's 'Shark Week'; Alfred Hitchcock Presents; Looney Tunes; HBO Stand-Up Comedy; Scrubs... I fucking detest reality shows because they're anything but and MTV and VH1 can both get blown up because they are a poor representation of culture, music AND young people...
"The Daily Adventures Of Mixerman" by Mixerman; "Animal Farm" by George Orwell; "Dizzy - The Life and Times Of John Birks Gillespie" by Donald L. Maggin; "Rotten - No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs" by John Lydon; "Jaws" by Peter Benchley; "Getting High - the Story Of Oasis" and "Forever the People - Six Months On the Road With Oasis" by Paolo Hewitt; "Many Years From Now" by Paul McCartney and Barry Miles; "Needful Things" by Stephen King; The Bloom County Comic Series by Berke Breathed; "My Magpie Ears Are Hungry For the Prize: The Creation Records Story" by David Cavanagh. Got a ton of new books (mostly about bands) that at this time, I have no time to read, haha...
"Hero" is a tricky word that lumps way too much responsibility on these people's shoulders. Howzabout "A List Of the Timelessly Cool" instead? The Beatles; Dizzy Gillespie; George Carlin; Jimi Hendrix; Alfred Hitchcock; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; The Beatles; Rush; Iggy Pop; Michael Moore; Brian Wilson; Carlos Mencia; Peter Townsend; Louis Armstrong; Noel Gallagher; Francis Ford Coppola; Grace Kelly; Manic Street Preachers; Sean Connery; Peter Gabriel; Salvador Dali; The Duke Spirit; Paul Weller; Sonny Rollins; The Rolling Stones; Orson Welles; The Beatles; Neil Young; John Lydon; Richard Pryor; Charles M. Schulz; George Lucas; Jesus Christ; The 20-Or-So People Who Did the Original Looney Tunes; John Peel; Sly Stone; David Bowie; Shirley Manson; they really really really should not egg me on like this because I can't help myself; Joe Strummer; Jimmy Page; Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore; Alice Cooper; Stephen King; Al Pacino; John Coltrane; Debbie Harry; Steven Spielberg; The Beatles (I did mention them, right?); Wynton Marsalis; Dave Grohl; Robert DeNiro; Berke Breathed; Art Blakey; Eddie Izzard; Bob Dylan; Duke Ellington; Carlos Mencia; Kiss; Ingrid Bergman; Carlos Santana; Denis Leary; John; Paul; George; Ringo; Andy; Mark; My Family; Myself. And The Beatles. These people (or the memory of such) are to be appreciated - so there'll be no wisecracking or fucking around in this section. Oh, and Spider Man. And The Beatles, just in case I forgot them... All of these lists, by the way, will probably get longer and longer as time goes on. It IS inevitable...and my nature...could be worse, folks - I could be going on and on about Bush or some worthless pastime like that...
