Calcabrina formed in 2001 as guitarist Salem Jamell and bassist Daniel Holland began jamming on a few riffs and covering video game music out of sheer boredom. Drummer Peter Gunn came aboard shortly thereafter, and the instrumental trio was officially deemed Calcabrina. Peter left the group some months later, vanishing into the Florida everglades and was presumed lost forever.
The band then underwent a drastic line-up overhaul as Keith B. joined to replace Peter, and Ryan Studer came aboard to lend vocal duties to the band. The band recorded a 4-song demo, played quite a few local shows, then went on hiatus at the end of 2003.
Over the summer of 2005, it was decided that it was time to revive Calcabrina and have another go at it. The band has been practicing and writing new material over the past several months, and hope to record a full length album at some point in the not too distant future.
In 2008, the band died in a meteor shower
