I'd like to meet:
about the accident.
alright. this is message is to attempt to clear up all the twisted stories out there about mark. he was in a street bike accident on monday night and was flown to cooper hospital in a helicopter. both of his lungs are collapsed and hes currently on life support. the inside of his lungs are bruised and punctured, and in very bad shape. he has 5 or 6 broken ribs on one side and 2 on the other. his head/brain is fine and his spine is fine too. he has a hairline fracture in his shoulder. and he needs a skin graph on his right forearm because the skin is no longer there. he also got his spleen removed. he may need to get another surgery to get out the retaining water in his stomach to get the pressure off of his lungs.------------------------------- July 12. so far mark doesnt need to get the surgery on his stomach, the pressure lightened up on his lungs. theyre feedin him through a tube to get his nutrition up there and his body is getting less and less swollen. mark will remain on life support for about a half a week left now. his lungs are still really beat up and bruised but mr amazing is def comin back to us. AND our superhero decided to try and get out of bed today! and he opened his eyes. but the dr. did have to re sedate him because hes tryna wake up and get out too quick. (( the nurses said hes still a real strong boyy)) they also stitched his arm half closed and they need to skin graph the rest cause theres too much skin missing. even after marky wakes up hell be livin at cooper til about fall. and from there hell live in a rehab center so he can learn to use all of his muscles again. hell be bed ridden for a while but ill post when everyone will def be able to see him. he gets excited everytime. keep praying! ------------------------------------------------------ July 13. welll. go0d news is marky was awake for 45 minutes this morning with his eyes open. he stayed calm and responded to everything. the nurse was asking him questions and he shook his head yes or no. she asked if he knew hed been in an accident and he said yes. she asked if he was feeling pain and once he said yes and once he said no. he was doin good all day. his vitals are still good and his swelling is goin down (( he almost looks like our man again )) bad news is mark keeps getting too excited or maybe scared and he tries to jump out of bed. when he isnt sedated he can move his body and everything. he tries to over power the resperator by breathing on his own (( which he can NOT do with out the resperator )) and gagging out his tubes (( which he also can not go without)) today when he tried gettin out of bed it took four nurses to pin him back down. he fought so hard that he re damaged his lungs and he is now sedated and will remain for a little while now. he can still hear us but he cant move any of his muscles. he hears his friends and family talking to him, and trust me he wants you to know hes listenin but hes pushin it too fast and he needs to take his time and heal properly. [dont worry, we play his music for him to fall asleep to every night]--------------------------------- July 14- As of this morning his lungs again arent taking the oxygen and they had to boost his maching back up to 100%. His body is still completely sedated and paralyzed to keep him from trying to jump out of bed again and hurting himself more...(we all know how he is lol...nobody is stopping him from anything...hes a nut...) He still has a high fever. More will be posted about how he is doing when we come home from the hospital tonight. markys made alot of improvement since he re hurt his lungs. he has a fever of 100 as of tonight but it was at 102. they havent found the infection yet, but that is one of their main focuses for right now. (( besides making his lungs better)) the resperator is doing 61 % for him. he is still sedated so that we can keep his crazy ass under control. the gash on his arm is healing good but they still may have to do the skin graph. he pretty much looks like markyy noww cause the swelling is going down more and more every time we see him. he has a new monitor hooked up to his head to measure his brain waves to see how much pain he is in and how sedated he is. they took some staples out of his belly to release some pressure off of his lungs. they also put the nutrition food back on, but very very slowly. marky lays on a massaging//vibratin bed to loosin up flem and other fluids layin in his lungs and chest so that they can suck it out (( because he can not cough it up himself )) tomorrow is sunday, EVERYONE GO TO CHURCH!! PRAY FOR MY BROTHER.---------------------------------- July 15-Well, there isn't to much that happened today. No news is good news. Marky is improving more and more each day even though he is still critical. He no longer has a fever, although that flucuates all throughout the night. Sometime this week his breathing tube will be moved to his trachea. The life support can't be left in is throat for to long because it will damage his esophagus and vocal cords. He heard our dads voice tonight and his heart rate and blood pressure sky rocketed. He got very exctied to hear him and I'm sure if he could move he would have tried to throw his legs over and try to climb out of bed again. His oxygen level is now at 65%, another improvement. Keep praying for our brother. He's been extremely brave and strong so far. No news is go0d news.--------------------- July 16- today was another good day. the doctors are taking marky off of the paralyzer so he is more alert than hes been. the resperator is now doing 50% for markyy and over the next two days as he improves they are going to determine when they are going to switch his breathing tube over to the trachea. his lungs are still improving but he will not be able to breathe on his own for a while noww. his fever keeps bouncing but it hasnt topped 103 yet. they changed his IVs today and took cultures to see if they could be the source of infection. the cut on his arm is healing good, the top is still open but they may want to close that soon. the nurses said that the punctures on his lungs could be healed but were not 100% sure. either way theyre still bruised and beaten really badly. they upped his morphine to keep him relaxed since they are takin off the paralyzer. they are still giving him sedation also. we have to keep him under so he doesnt try to get out of bed again. oh, and he may have a sinus infection so theyre goin to get a culture from there to see whats goin on in there. well thats all for today. ill update again tomorrow.------------------------ july 17-19sorry we havent updated in a while. theyre hasnt really been much happened. but uhm. markys gettin better every day. his the resperator is now on 40 and his peep (( pressure )) is at 10. which means that theyre gonna do the tracheastomy soon. there is an infection in his blood, but the infectious disease people looked at it all and are gonna tell the doctors the right antibiotic to put mark on. his fever has been very high lately. highest was 105.7 but as of tonight it is 100.4 which is a big improvement. and tonight mark opened his eyes for me and melissa and mommy!!!! he doesnt know whats goin on or anything so every time he opens his eyes and we know hes awake we have to tell him what happened all over again. hes highly medicated soo he forgets things very easily. and his condition doesnt help much either. theyre going to be able to close the cut on his arm soon, since the swelling has been goin down. oh and he is also on something for his sinus infection. theyre hasnt really been alot of changes so we may not update every night. but if anything else happens well let every one know. ------------------------ UPDATE - they switch the respirator to markys trachea so0 now he doesnt have any tubes runnin through his mouth. his feeding tube goes through his nose down into his stomach. they also took the staples out of his stomach but there is still an opening because his stomach is still leaking. yet again mark tried to get up. they have to keep him strapped down so that he cant grab any tubes or get up fully. he kicks and he fights but hes not allowed up. hes stayin strong and still improvin a lil bit every day. he still cant remember that he was in an accident and doesnt fully comprehend the fact that he needs to just lay down and do as the doctors say. but hopefully that nut will. ------ UPDATE- If you check the courier tomorrow my brother is suppose to be on the front page. There is a blood drive being held for him on Friday. If you are interested in donating blood you can message me or Melony and we can give you details. Today he was fully awake for the first time. They had him off the ventilator, but are putting him back on when he goes to sleep. He can't fully breath without it yet, but he is almost there. He can't talk yet either. He knows that he was in an accident and he said no that he wasn't hit. When he was asked if he lost control of his bike he shook his head yes. He asked what happend to his bike so we had to lie and say that we are waiting for the insurance company to look at it, but it really got totalled. He keeps saying that he has no feeling in his right hand. The doctors are going to look at it tonight and determine if he needs surgery. He got surgery on tuesday because there was an abcess in his lungs and it needed to be drained. So far that is doing well. He is still in trauma icu but will hopefully be out of that and into step down soon enough. We will continue to keep you posted just not everyday like before because now its just a slow healing process.--------------------------------- UPDATE- Marky got the surgery on his wrist last week. He now has plates in it and still no feeling. He was moved to trauma step down for a few days and moved right out of that into a regular room. He's on his way to a speedy recovery now. He started physical therapy on Monday and was a able to walk a little bit, but that tired him out quick. He told the doctors he wants out by Friday lol. He also ate solid food for the first time in a month on Monday. Mel and I fed him. Over the weekend he began breathing on his own completely. He still has the trach just in case, but so far so good! He also has somewhat of a voice now. It's good to finally hear him talk! His new visiting hours are from 12-9. He is in room 718 so if your good friends with him stop by and visit. It cheers him up!
