I live in DC and am working to get voting rights for the District of Columbia . As the president of The Stamp Act Congress I try to connect people with our issue. Washington DC is the capital of our nation, and the home of over 500,000 United States citizens who have no voting representative in the United States Congress!
Despite paying taxes, serving in the United States Military, and on federal juries, the citizens are disenfranchised without no one to speak for them on Captial Hill. They are all treated as colonists in the capital of democracy! For more information, go to our site or our blog .
We formed the Stamp Act Congress as a group of citizens committed to telling America about this injustice. Our goal is to educate everyone that democracy does not exist in Washington DC , and that residents are taxed without being represented.
We believe colonial status will not change until American realize that citizens living in the capital of the United States are being treated like colonists: paying without enjoying representation! For over 200 years, DC residents have had no voice in Congress! (See our history section.) Its time for that to end!
