About Me

Not a biker or a cowboy or a yuppie or a party guy or any other pigeon hole that people my age are put into. 40% good ol boy, 35% suburbanite, 25% non-conformist (influence from the 60s and 70s). Outdoorsman, but not to the extreme, good dad (I hope), hard worker (for a lazy guy). Christian, politically conservative with a libertarian (not liberal) streak.

My Interests

Everyone is interesting in their own way. I enjoy creative people, people who work hard, people who have interesting hobbies, people who are successful. From history, I would like to meet some of the unknown pioneers who figured out how to get along with nothing and learn how they did it.

My Blog

And so begins incremental servitude

From change.gov, the website for President-elect Obama: "The Obama Administration will call on Americans to serve in order to meet the nation's challenges. President-Elect Obama will expand national s...

Help me understand

Charlie Gibson interviews Gov Palin - Unfair editing?

I watched part of this interview, and left with the impression that Gov Palin did okay, not fabulous. Look at this transcript though, at the strength, wisdom, and common sense that was left on the cut...

On sportfishing

It's hard to explain the attraction of fishing.  It is somewhat primal, but not completely.  Today, I ran across this quote (slightly modified) "Fishing is two lives connected by a thin stra...

Bird Feeder

I have a couple of bird feeders outside.  Nice to have pets you don't have to get shots for or let outside to do their business in the middle of the night. I have sunflower seeds in two feeders, ...

A new toy and a new friend

If you've seen my pics, you know I just got a "new" toy.  It's a 1992 BMW 318i convertible.  As a hyper-practical person, it was a bit of a stretch for me, but I have enjoyed it so far. ...

Thirty Years

I'm a dinosaur I think.  I've done something few people do anymore.  Last month, I passed a pretty significant milestone at work.  I have now worked at the same place for 30 years....
