About Me

i seek learning about world events and discoveries. or waiting 'till they come to me. whichever's first. what better to do than come upon a land of enchantment and new adventures to increase one's own knowledge? *ahem* i am called by the name of mayra. i am hard to 'categorize'...if even possible. labels are for food jars and identifying supplies...not for people.

i like to treat others (including different species) w/ respect. that means for me not eating them, consuming other products that come from them (dairy), nor wearing/using them. yeah, that would pretty much be calling me a vegan. but away with labels, i say! rather, i like to lead a vegan lifestyle.
want more info. on the reasons for veganism? check out this link from Vegan Outreach !
and while you're @ it, watch this video entitled "meet your meat":
Get free stickers at peta2.com thank you and i'm sure animals everywhere thank you as well.
the [vegan] possibilities are practically endless! yum!
i will not pledge allegiance to the forsaken flag. however:

please find out more information about and support Food Not Bombs , an organization that for over 25 years it's movement has worked to end hunger and has supported actions to stop the globalization of the economy, restrictions to the movements of people, end exploitation and the destruction of the earth.

I'd like to meet:

COMMENT AWAY RIIIIGHT HERE...
i originally did not join this site to meet new people. the purpose for my 'space' is to keep in contact w/ my friends and possibly find long lost ones. it would be nice nonetheless to come across people who live vegan/vegetarian lifestyles, care about the environment, animals, are peace, justice, and truth seekers, anti-political parties, are animal rights activists and overall open-minded individuals...who actually care about the world we live in. i am not here to “hook up." i am content w/ my relationship [status]. and do not just add me to increase your friend's list. i find that despicable.
WORD OF CAUTION BEFORE ADDING MY PROFILE TO YOUR FRIEND'S LIST: people who discriminate against others based on their skin color, gender, sexual orientation, nation of birth, and other bigoted “reasons," need not apply. i suggest some therapy perhaps. good luck. one thing i am allergic to is ignorance. thanks and now scadooodle.

"moooooy-eeeeee, moooooooo!"

Music:

i'm very picky when it comes to music [too]. most of today's music is not based on actual talent and creativity but rather, a manufactured formula(s) that's only goal is to sell the most copies. an example is the so-called music that continues the cycle of discrimination/degradation of women and other groups of people. that is considered entertainment?! so sad. not in my book. all that matters behind the corporations that produce "music" is the money to such "music" corporations that real art gets lost and mutilated. that i find tragic & disgusting. the death of real music. *sigh* i like many genres. i just don't like to select them because there may be some [music] in that genre that i simply cannot stand. just some musicians that i enjoy the work of are: System of a Down, Alice in Chains, Bob Marley, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Black Sabbath, Metallica

Movies:

i like movies with substance and that leave the viewer with something to think about. movies that are actually worth watching. those which inspire, motivate, are though-provoking...those that tell a story that must be told. now that's the stuff.
earthlings, part 1 (of 3)

The Corporation
an eerie [yet honest] "brief history of the united states" brought to you by the makers of south park, featured on the [moving] documentary Bowling for Columbine: and another clip featured on the film, a clever joke/suggestion by chris rock: personal opinion: $5000 is not enough ;P

trailer for Who Killed the Electric Car? --yet another definitive must-watch:

Television:

i don't watch too much television. but when i do watch television some of the shows i enjoy viewing are: invader zim, monk, whose line is it anyway?, the daily show w/ jon stewart, hey arnold! (i grew up with that one), the simpsons (another one i grew up with), batman the ANIMATED SERIES(the original...ahhh, goooood stufff!), i love lucy, charmed, medium, law & order: [both] s.v.u and c.i., and a few others that aren't crap like MANY of today's so-called t.v. shows.

[invader] zimmy is my twin brotha..yep

Books:

many non-fiction books that deal w/ issues and topics captivating to me. too many to name. here are a few anyway:

--Chomsky's book is a must-read for ALL people born in america and those not born in america...basically for ALL to read

not everything in life per se but plenty. tee heee.

i also take some interest in fiction works that include the LOTR trilogy and others...:

& my [other] weakness is manga [series] by Yu Watase:

Ceres: Celestial Maiden

Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden

Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play

Alice 19th

Heroes:

“no heroes, no idols, no leaders (just pure inner strength)"-wicked jester
