Let's see. I'm interested in multitudes of things, but they're usually geeky/nerdy things. I love writing, reading, and playing computer games. I fancy going out to the bar, dancing around in the living room, and staring out at the ocean. In the morning, if I'm not going running out the door first thing, I want to stay wrapped up in a blanket all afternoon, idly lazing in the sun or by the fireplace. Pedicures, Manicures, hair appointments, facials, eyebrow waxing, and shopping make my life well again after a rough time.
Anyone. No, seriously. I love meeting people. Now, this doesn't mean I'll enjoy your company or want to see you again after meeting you, but just once for starters. Everyone has something unique enough about them that I at least want a little sample of each and every one of them.
You know when you ask someone what kind of music they listen to, and they say 'Lots of different kinds'? Usually, they just can't think at the time, and this statement isn't entirely true. With me, it is. All of the CD's in my player bounce between country music, rap, broadway, classical, and so forth and so on. You'll go from listening to "Rammstein" to listening to "Sound of Music" instantly. It's amazing.
Napolean Dynamite and I heart Huckabees were two of the most hilarious movies I have seen lately. Besides the obvious eye candy in the latter, they had fantastic stories that made you say 'What'. And movies that make you go 'What', are the best. Unpredictability. I loved 'Moulin Rouge', 'Lost in Translation', 'Amelie', 'Brotherhood of the Wolf', and simply RAVE about "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Yum. Amazing. Steel Magnolias.. Sigh! Gypsy was wonderful. I could likely go on for hours with my slapstick musicals and sundance film festival spread, but ... Well, I won't.
'Lolita', by Nabokov, was one of the most amazing books I've ever immersed myself in. At first, I couldn't plunge into the story enough, but by the sixth time I went back, I found myself craving more of that mans writing style. Not to mention, there can't be a more realistic, down-to-earth love story than that one. When I was at the bookstore once, looking for a little casual reading on the art of torture, I found a book under the title 'Torture Garden'. This, about a sadistic woman, written in 1899, has recently taken its eternal spot beside me. It sits by my bed and travels with me everywhere. Right now, it's on loan, or I might actually be re-reading it. Yes, the writing style is that amazing to me. Sigh. Anything that has to do with Phedre in the 'Kushiel's Dart' trio is fantastic. What the hell else do you need when you have a prositute heroine? Exactly! Nothing!Again with the prostitute heroine, I give a high reccomendation for "Crimson Petal and the White", simply for aforementioned reasons.
