I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a nerd. I believe the pizza cutter is one of the most underrated kitchen tools. Sometimes I forget how much I like pickles. I like to use big words around small children. Watching the creamer swirling in my coffee brings me peace. I love being outside. Bugs are cool; I usually catch and release rather than squish. I like sudoku. I love music. The right song on any day can make me a happier person. I can make paper. My camera goes everywhere with me. I make my own slippers. When I want to live dangerously, I skip on tiled floors in my slippers. My favorite video games are Tetris, Rock Band, Brain Age, and Dance Dance Revolution. I sing all the time. Really. And I have an Etsy shop called Yarnworks By Ali!Things that never fail to make me happy: bubbles, coloring, music, a good game of Uno, daisies, root beer floats, butterflies.

My Interests

Music, knitting, crochet, crafting, making jewelry

I'd like to meet:

People. People I already know, to be more specific, although I admit making new friends probably wouldn't kill me.Also Paul McCartney, Seth Green, Billy Corgan, Johnny Depp, Claire Danes.

Music:

Yes. I like it.OK, I'll elaborate... Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Bjork, Weezer, Nirvana, Wesley Willis (yes, the obese raving schizophrenic, God rest his soul). Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Stravinsky.

Movies:

I like the Kevin Smith movies. And Pirates of the Caribbean! Austin Powers always makes me laugh. And Monty Python, though it's been ages. Rocky Horror Picture Show's always good.

Television:

Usually I just watch what my kids are watching. We like SpongeBob Squarepants and Scooby-Doo. I also watch The Simpsons, Family Guy, Best Week Ever, The Soup, The Boondocks, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Meerkat Manor, and of course Robot Chicken.

Books:

Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar is my all-time favorite.

Heroes:

My mom. And your mom. Also Wonder Woman.

Crisis Averted?

Silly me.  When I made my reservations to come up, I didn't confer with anyone about who could meet me at Penn Station.  As it turns out, nobody can.  Nobody.  Which left me with t...

Yay for Upstate!

I rode the train up for a visit on Saturday.  This is the first time the girls have actually been interested in what's out the window, so the travelling was not so bad.  We stopped for Burge...

Perhaps you’ve heard my sad story about how I lost my Pirates skeleton key from my necklace.  Perhaps you know that someone was trying to see if they could hook me up with a new one.  ...

Eeeek!

Even though I just made sure all my photos are backed up, erasing my memory card is still sooooo scary!  There's just something about starting fresh that's good, yet terrifying at the same time....

Further Musings on the Dichotomy

I've decided it's really not the cleaning I hate.  What I hate is that it's never on my own terms.  It's always out of obligation to someone else that I do it.  Then when I do clean, no...
