PolyRhythmic's weekly open mic show resumes Jan. 20 at The SpotThis just in kiddies! The owners of The Spot (4437 N Broadway) have graciously allowed us to have our open mic show upstairs in the "green room" while Trace is shut down for renovations. There will be no show January 13, but we'll get it up and running January 20th, and we really want people to come. "Safe Smiles" is the name of the weekly multimedia open mic and performance series curated by the PolyRhythmic arts collective of Chicago. Named a favorite open mic for poetry by both Chicago Magazine and TimeOut Chicago, "Safe Smiles" has featured some of the area's and the continent's finest spoken word performers and rising music, comedic and general performance art talent."Safe Smiles" currently holds a longtime residency at the Trace Lounge, upstairs, Tuesday late nights with doors opening and the signup list at 10. The Trace is a 21 and over venue and PolyRhythmic asks for a $3 donation that goes directly to running the show.Touring acoustic, electronic music and spoken word acts: we are always looking to feature you when you pass through Chicago so get in touch with us at www.polyrhythmic.org; at [email protected]; or thru any of our current members right here on MySpace.
