Band Members: paul sanchezcomposer/producer/programmertel // 213-804-4656fax // 818-843-2384email // [email protected] sanchez has a unique approach to music. paul: “there are two kinds of music – stuff that grooves and makes you move… and everything else. this applies to all music. it’s the rhythm of life. there’s probably nothing i can’t get excited about.” this approach colors paul’s 26-year musical career.paul began working in new york as a guitarist for hire. “i was lucky to fall into a circle of really fine musicians. although basically a rock guitarist, the first work i found was playing funk, r’n’b and disco. that’s what was happening. i split this work with playing in my rock band, so i was able to mix aggressive playing with heavy rhythms.”cabaret and session work led to touring with r’n’b singer stacy lattisaw, jingle work as well as a stint as guitarist and writer for the jim carroll band, a seminal punk group with a large following (eventually leading to a best of collection on rhino and a tribute album). jim carroll was the subject of the controversial movie “the basketball diaries” starring leonardo dicaprio. tours across america and canada followed with the ramones, kool and the gang, flock of seagulls, j. geils band, the spinners, ian hunter, smokey robinson, todd rundgren, sugarhill gang, david johanson. paul maintained an active schedule of session work: rupert holmes, edd kalehoff productions (jingles), atlantic records artist amy kanter, unlimited touch, shy talk, jamaican group native, risqué w/jimmy destri of blondie, nonnie and the onnies and more.paul relocated to los angeles and soon landed a four-month club date in tokyo. “returning to america, i began production work in earnest. lots of demos for locals helped sharpen my chops.” paul began placing music widely. groovemedia has placed soundtrack music with writer/director joe eszterhas (basic instinct, sliver, flashdance). paul has also written and produced commercials for diverse clients: his spots for american beneficial mortgage and bare elegance routinely played on abc, cbs, espn and fox sports west.paul played session guitar for the bahamian group the baha men, then wrote and co-produced material for lead singer nehemiah. this resulted in nehemiah’s first solo album on polydor/universal japan, “from the soul”. the breakout single “wham bam” was released may 1, 2000. the song promptly rose to ..2 and enjoyed an eight-week run on japan’s top 10.film scoring has been another passion in paul’s life, scoring the bold soul /interaction film “5150 – the disappearance of donnie bishop” for an oct. 11, 2003 release and a recent run for the On Demand cable service.recently paul's guitar contributed to the TV Land/ TV Guide series "100 Greatest Moments" and he wrote and produced a Mutt Mob commercial playing on MTV and the E Channel.paul is currently at work on the first cd for his group “pleasuretribe” featuring canadian singer/actress larissa gomes and world music diva zera vaughan.
