About Me

View Mark Mann's EPK ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Born in California but raised most of his life in south Mississippi, Mark Mann knew early that his life would revolve around music. At the age of 14, Mark began jotting lyrics down on anything he could find. Most of these lyrics were a reflection of life in south Mississippi, particularly Hattiesburg. "I never try to write music. I can be anywhere and lyrics and a tune will just come to me," Mark says. Because of this uncanny gift, Mark admits writing lyrics down on the legs of his jeans, his arms and hands, the visor of his car, and coffee filters. "There are no telling how many songs I have washed away in the tub or washer," Mark states laughingly. In 1990, while a junior in high school, Mark started his first band, Eulogy of the Dog. This band played original music written by Mark, acoustic versions, and covers from many genres. Their popularity took them from playing local school dances to bars across Mississippi. After losing a band member here and there, Mark started a new band, Opal Dial in the late 1990's. This band received national airplay while touring throughout the southeast in college towns and in other parts of the nation. Opal Dial's last CD was released in 2000 and was entitled "Driving It Home."Mark began a solo career that lasted 7 years before reassembling his band. After compiling many unreleased tracks from his solo career, he and his band made the trek to Memphis to complete and record their new album. The album "Cowboy Carnage" was released in January 2008. This was the 9th album released by Mark Mann since 1992. Critics say this is the best release yet. Rock meets country in this story-telling album that was widely anticipated by Mark's most loyal fans. These albums, like the others before, continue to deliver a great sound with lyrics that contain a story everyone can connect to.Mark's unfaltering love and dedication for music has allowed him and his bands to open for such national acts as Webb Wilder, The Charlie Mars Band, Drivin' and Cryin', Blue Mountain, Cowboy Mouth, and Dash Rip Rock. Mark attributes his love for music to the early influences of Charlie Daniels, Eddie Rabbit, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and John Cougar Mellencamp.both albums available on iTunes - click cover to download
