About Me

Marc Miranda is a singer/songwriter born in Scunthorpe and now based in Sheffield. Marc’s songs display an obsession with human interactions and motives for behaviour; the songs tell tales of odd romances and conflicting opinion delivered with an almost dark sense of humour. Mostly singing from a third party perspective it is a fascinating ride into the mind of an avid people watcher, Marc describes the song’s as “musical voyeurism, a look at what’s going on next door”. Although dark at times there is no depression on the part of the song’s various protagonists, they are usually having a good time watching the tale unfold. Likened to both James Taylor and Roddy Frame Marc’s songs are very much a lyrical affair. The first EP “Four Fifteen” was recorded in Cornwall by Ryan Jones (The Hitchcock Rules) in 2006 and Marc was joined by long-time musical cohort Tom Pogson and began playing as the Marc Miranda Two. After extensive gigging they recorded the second EP “Twenty Seven” with Nottighams Andy Whittle. After this two became four with the additions of Kaje and Matt Holdsworth. Playing as the Marc Miranda Kitchen Band the music consists bright piano and guitar combination is firmly rooted by sturdy bass lines, all of this laying the backdrop to three part harmonies. The simplicity of the songs is all part of the charm, its complex characters to a simple tune all the way as they deliver their antidote to modern life.---"The song writing here is very strong, great melodies, whimsical lyrics. I was reminded of Prefab Sprout and Roddy Frame just enough. But Marc has his own style, his own patter.Catch them when you can. You just don’t see bands like this every day."-- Ralph Dartford- -----"The Marc Miranda Kitchen band were incredible. The four of them work really well together, the songwriting was very strong, there was a lot of passion. I loved the keyboards, and as for the female singer, she's got one of the most lovely singing voices I've ever heard and incredible stage presence."-- Jude Calvert- Toumlin
