About Me

Deny Rowand, band founder, guitarist, bassist and lead vocalist, has been playing guitar and bass since the great Beatles scare of the mid 60's. He is a singer/songwriter and has been performing semi-professionally since the early 1970's. Thru the 70's, Deny lived and performed in the Blues capital of the world, Chicago, Il. Deny moved back to his home state of New Jersey in 1979. DENY performed with Anna King's Dirty Works at the Philadelphia Riverfront Blues Festival (between John Lee Hooker and John Mayall) and at many of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware's blues clubs before moving to Miami in 1990. Over the years he's performed with many bands, but never as a front man until forming the acoustic duo, Outta d' Blues, in 1993. Since that time, Outta d' Blues has grown into a full blown Chicago style electric blues band with son Josh on lead guitar. ............................................................ .................................................... Deny wrote seven of the ten songs on the Outta d' Blues LOCAL SUPERSTAR CD. His sense of humor is apparent in songs such as Dead Man Blues (I didn't wake up this morning) and Sensitive Man Gets Tough (in answer to Christine Lavin's Sensitive New Age Guy.) ............................................................ ....................................................Josh Rowand is the 23 year-old “Pitbull of Blues” from South Florida. He is a talented electric and acoustic guitarist. At the age of 15 Josh placed third in the Guitar Center (Hallendale, Florida) Battle of the Blues Guitarists, beating out many older established players. Josh has since gone on to add accomplished slide guitarist, accomplished harmonica player, singer and songwriter to his musical resume. Two songs on the Outta d' Blues LOCAL SUPERSTAR CD (Born to Boogie and Pitbull Boogie) were penned by Josh. Born to Boogie was selected by the South Florida Blues Society to include in it's newly released “Best of the Blues” CD. Over the years, Josh has had the opportunity to meet and play with most of the major blues players in South Florida including Junior Wells' last guitar player and seasoned veterans at the WC Handy Awards in Memphis. ............................................................ .................................................... Giving Outta d' Blues the real Chicago feel is harmonica player extraordinaire Boomer Hess. Boomer joined the band early on making Outta d' Blues an acoustic trio. Boomer studied harp under the late great South Florida Blues Legend Fleet Starbuck. Boomer added washboard to his arsenal of musical equipment, giving the band a real New Orleans Cajun feel as well as the Chicago harp sound that he is noted for. ............................................................ .................................................... Keeping the “swing in the whole damn thing”, is veteran drummer Ritchie Coreccelli. Ritchie comes from a solid touring background having worked many years with South Florida's Mr. Twister and the Cathy Cotton Blues Band. With Ritchie on drums, the band has taken on a slightly harder, more driven edge, although Ritchie can still pull the boys in tight on the slow blues and ballads when needed. ............................................................ .................................................... As Josh says, “ to get a party started New Orleans style, you need a good drummer, and Outta d' Blues has one of the best.” When Ritchie and Boomer lock in on that Cajun beat, you can't sit still. Ya gotta laissez les bon temps roulez (let the good times roll). Add a heavy helping of bass and a sizzle of guitar and you have a musical Gumbo loaded with Chicago stockyard flavor and a touch of Miami tropical spice.
