About Me

Spokane’s Hardest Working Band, as described by the Spokesman Review is the premier Latin musical act of the Inland Northwest. Playing countless diverse Latin dance styles from around the globe, Milonga has established itsself as the driving force of Latino Music in Spokane and has inspired a number of local Latin dance events and musical acts to form since its origins in 2001. With its All-Star lineup of musicians, hailing from all manner of musical backgrounds, Milonga continues to dazzle audiences across the western US with their blend of innovative original tunes in the Latin vibe. From traditional to cutting edge, Milonga offers its audience a brief but authentic sample of Latino culture through the musical heritage representative of countries like Spain, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Peru, Panama and several others throughout the Spanish-speaking world. Milonga’s American influences are also ever present in the mixture of Latino grooves with more contemporary styles like jazz, hiphop, rock and R&B. Milonga’s commitment to a cultural focus is what seperates it from the stereotype of so many Latin cover bands playing today. Their artistic and emotional expression has become a formidable showpiece at a number of outdoor festivals as well as clubs and events across the NW. Milonga and its members have had the honor of performing in front of, alongside, and behind some of the best acts in Latin music today. Artists include Quetzal, Los Lobos, Alejandro Escovedo, Ozomatli, Agua Dulce, Cuchata, Yerba Buena, as well as a Descarga (jam session) with Poncho Sanchez at the Zombie room, as seen in our myspace videos. Milonga’s first full-length CD, The Brown Album is currently under construction and scheduled to release May 5th at Casa de Oro’s Cinco de Mayo celebration in North Spokane.
