God has your head, the devil has your balls - The Constant Gardener

About Me

“And i tear out this brittle bone, and i drink deep this wine.   Live rich on the meat of this table cause it's here where i can find, the grace of a savior, the face of a lover, the absence of what i fear, i'm not alone, for here i've found my home.” – The Normals

I’m male, and Proud.

No, I’m not a sexist Pig…but

“The American man wants his Manhood back.   Period.   Feminists have been busy castrating American males.   They poured this country’s testosterone out the window in the 1960’s.”   -Bly Roberts

Hey, my name’s Geoff, I'm a geek at heart, and i know it… I love Jesus, People, Music, and Books. Don Miller makes me smile cause he wrote Blue Like Jazz, and it changed me.   And The Normals are my all time favorite band.   I'm an extroverted introvert, which means i love to mosh for a couple hours at a concert, then come back home and read for the next couple hours. Starbucks is my friend, and i love chillin there or my other favorite coffee shop, Barrie’s, with friends or kickin back and reading.   I love kids and have had the blessed opportunity of being a kid’s camp counselor for the past 6 years.   I love kids, they make me smile, always.

Currently i'm a student at Lane Community, getting my Associates of Arts Transfer Degree. I'll have that by the end of the summer, 07’.   Most likely I’ll then transfer to the U of O and get my bachelors.   I've just changed my major to International Studies, but that is quite subject to change of course.   It’s also an incredibly large field, and allows me to go into pretty much anything I so desire.

I love to write, and do a fair amount of blogging, some just about my day, and other's are rants against people and society....so feel free to check them out and let me know what you think of them.   I’m very opinionated, and quite passionate about my views, so if I get into a discussion with you, expect have a good debate.

Rules played now reversed.
shot to pieces.
and that little show of emotion
is left to a cynic's palace.
leave it by the gate.
I'm not   one to break you.
but i know when the damage is done.
like the guilty looking for pity.
you shafted this.
now let this sear your memory.
Saved the best for last?
because now the wine is gone.
and even your hands
talented as they are
can't turn water back to wine.

My Interests

God, drums, music, books, friends, family and life, not necessarily in that order.

In terms of Drums:

I'm using an all Maple CX PDP kit. Her Name is Isabella. She is my pride and joy. I'm running all Zildjian cymbals, most are A Custom, my ride is a Z Custom. I like bigger cymbals, like 19" and 20" crashes. I'm using my old A Custom 22" ping ride as a crash, if that gives you any indication, and a 20" A Custom Projection crash. I support DW drums, Zildjian cymbals, and Vic Firth sticks.

My other pride and joy (in terms of drums) is Melissa, my Djembe (pronounced Jembe ) A Djembe is a African hand drum that has gotten pretty popular over here, pretty big in worship music. In essence, Melissa is a portable Drum kit, which is saying something, because all drummers will tell you, drums are about as portable as a Grand Piano.... Djembe's are great for acoustic stuff, where you need something to provide the backbeat without the decibel level of a kit. I've used them on various jamming occasions.

I'd like to meet:

Mr. Whittaker, Don Miller, The Normals , Andrew Osenga , Ernest Shackelton , Danny Carey, Paul Rusesabagina .

"And you're the only one, who caught the other line." – Mat Kearney

Music:

I'm a big fan of melodic rock/metal, but i love softer music as well, as long as it carries a melody, i'm game

The Best I Can – The Normals

I sometimes hide behind my words
Sometimes I’m round the corner from these songs
But words are only words
Like days are only days
And I’m nothing for just singing along
The air is hot in Florida
The rain is cold in Maine
The thaw is flooding Washington
And this all feels the same
But You’ve brought me to this place where there’s nothing else but faith

And this is what I have been given and I will make the best I can
There’s a joy we find in living and a love that’s in Your hand

Cason’s always talking about the sky that covers Kansas
And I wish I could be under it today
I’m tired of all the spinning lies
Tired of all this killing time
Tired of always getting in the way
I wish I could conjure up a love song
Wish I could pray the way my friends do back home
Is there a part of You that I still don’t believe
Cause this is not what I thought I had been praying for

But this is what I have been given and I will make the best I can
There’s a joy we find in living and a love that’s in Your hand

Someday some girl will find my words beautiful
Someday some son will call me dad
Someday I won’t wake to find myself lying in another cold and lonely hotel bed
Someday Ill trade in this guitar for a city of golden praise
Someday I won’t be here any longer, Someday,

But this is what I have been given
And I will make the best I can
There’s a joy we find in living
And a love that’s in Your hand
