Also known as JohnMFer

About Me

I'm tall and lanky. 6'6", red receding hair. Beard is back again.

Married since May 2002, no kids. We have a house and a dog and a brown concrete block fence.

Check out one of my bands, Chief Beef.

My Interests

Chief Beef. When I'm not busy with that, brewing beer and drinking it, watching movies, swimming, reading, sudoku puzzles. Oh, yeah, and building and modifying electric guitars.

I'd like to meet:

A space alien.

Music:

Recently, I've been really into These Arms are Snakes.

Movies:

I'm getting pickier. Despite my best efforts, I can't think of a movie good enough to put here.

Television:

Good Eats, the Iron Chef, South Park, Sarah Silverman.

Books:

The most interesting book I read recently was State of Fear by Michael Crichton. It's basically the opposite of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth. It was a good read, really showed me the opposing arguments in a better light. It's also been good fodder for lyrical content, as I am trying to write a theme based Chief Beef EP about equilibrium, or a general lack thereof.

Heroes:

The person who gets a constitutional amendment passed banning political parties for starters.

Wasteland.

I just took a brief peek around MySpace for the first time in a while. I joined a couple years ago at the urging of my wife who said it was cool, and yeah, it was. I don't know what happened, though. ...

Autumn.

My autumn wasn't quite a jam packed as my summer. That's probably a good thing, gotta keep my sanity. But this autumn I did quite a bit, not limited to the following:1) Released a CD with Chief Beef. ...

Summer.

Well, here's what I did with my summer: 1. Recorded an 11 song album with Chief Beef. Tracked, mixed, remixed, mastered, artworked, and now sent to presses for a CD release October 13th. Also, we play...

If only every day could be like this weekend.

Subject not required

The shizz is down, so I'm figuring out ways to keep busy. One thing I've wanted to do for a while has been to either convert this profile to a music profile, or set up a different one devoted strictly...

First update in a while

Things picked up at work and I've been pretty busy. Today is a slower day, thankfully. I need the break. Chief Beef is playing our first show in a couple months this coming Tuesday. We're playing with...

Guitars. Stuff. Things.

Things are slow for me at work. This week is Spring Break for the college kids, and working on a college campus means there's nobody around really. I've spent a bunch of time looking at Cascading Styl...

Philip Seymour Hoffman vs Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Phoenix will always be Johnny Cash to me. I recently saw Ladder 49, and the first time Joaquin Phoenix was on the screen, the first thing I thought of was Johnny Cash. Okay? 'Nuff said. Well, ...
