About Me

Hello All
We've been receiving quite a few reviews lately (Yay for us!) and also not a small number of show requests as well. So our sickly guitarist thought he should come clean with everyone about his condition. Since Thanksgiving of last year, Dave's been dealing with a brain tumor the size of Lake Eerie. He had surgery recently, which went as well as could be expected, but unfortunately his doctors have told him that he'll need to follow it up with chemo/radiation (boooooo). He's in as good of spirits as can be expected and would love to hear from any/all of you. For the particulars, surf on over to his blog goliath and i on blogger (blogger links don't work with silly myspace).
We're going to start recording our new record as soon as Dave can get his ass in gear. We've put the vast majority of ourselves into it, and we're really excited about recording it. All the material is basically finished, it just needs to be refined by the hands of time and continuous play. Hopefully, we'll have a shiny new record for all you guys to admire before the end of the year. Thanks for listening.
-Cloud Minder
"David Sommer (guitar & Keyboard), Evan Madden (drums), Jason Baron (guitar & Cello), and Bob Stokes (bass), collectively known as Cloud Minder don’t make instrumental rock records; they create epic instrumental rock records. They create beautifully, moody music that has enough change and variation to make even the longest of songs (Orbiting Giants is nearly 9 minutes long) go by very quickly. Featuring multiple layers to their songs, this Philadelphia quartet composes music that sooths the listener into introspection. Their full length debut and follow up to Close Cover, Strike Gently is expected to drop early this year."
-Jason Kordich, Urb Magazine
"...Their ominous guitar lines are patient and mesmerizing, but that is only the calm before the storm. Their shifting compositions take you on a journey into the heart of darkness. At their peaks, Cloud Minder’s jams are fierce like warriors in the heat of battle..."
- Q.D. Tran, Deli Magazine
"Like a fusion of the simpler aspects of Do Make Say Think and the most soaringly beautiful aspects of Explosions in the Sky, Cloud Minder bring a sensibility to their instrumental ambient rock that make them incredibly intriguing. At times achieving the muddy sweetness of Rogue Wave, at times the grayness of Godspeed! You Black Emperor, Cloud Minder have an awareness beyond their years."-David Tafoya, Siren Records.
