Avid Knitter, professional Drinker, student Mechanic. All of my projects, film, drunken knitting, etc. focus on the idea of community outreach and preservation. Booze & Yarn is a free weekly knitting class and social group started out of spite for expensive yarn shop knitting classes taught by an unnecessarily mean staff. It has been running strong for almost 3 years, with no end in site.I also teach NYC public school children, cancer survivors, and anyone else that I can find to teach in and around manhattan, and am involved with a charity bringing hand knitted garments to women and children in the NY shelter system.Up at Lou's fish: the fulton fish market chronicles, is a documentary following the last days of the legendary nyc fish market (grounded in the south street seaport for 180 years), before being moved to Hunts Point in the bronx. The film will hopefully preserve their memory and serve as a much needed homage to the true New Yorkers that will so quickly be forgotten. What good is lower manhattan without the smell of fish guts in the morning?
