Everybody's Mom

I have never been prouder to be an American than I am tonight!

About Me

Sam I am, green eggs and Ham. But no Ham really, cause I've been a vegetarian for the last 20 years. And to my old friends who I haven't seen in many MOONS...I know I have a different name now, but c'mon. Take away the wrinkles and add pink hair and I'm still me. I don't look THAT different. So you can stop messaging me and asking if it's "really me". You're giving me a complex. Thanks :)
I am obsessed with Full-Quiver families and their Prairie Muffin Manifesto. I love mountains and rivers and nature and have felt misplaced in my urban surroundings my entire life. I get to play with raccoons, oppossums, turkeys, aligators, owls, sugar gliders and whatever other rescued animal gets brought to the wildlife center where I volunteer. I usually have some injured or orphaned animal living in my house since I am licenced as an assistant wildlife rehabilitator by NY state. This is the page for the center where I volunteer:

Check me out! Add them, and while you're at it, make a donation.
I work at a Zoo, which makes me terribly happy and horrifies me at the same time. I am a walking contridiction.
This is one of my favorite songs, and is partially sung by my favorite singer: The kid with the exceptional voice is mine, thank you very much ;)
Also..... I won't add anyone as a friend I don't actually know in some way, and I only add bands if I know the members...so don't ask me to. It REALLY pisses me off. I am not 16 and am not here to "collect" friends. Nor am I interested in 20 year old guys who call me "MILF" or find soccer moms sexy. I am neither of those things and they are not complements anyway. Grow up and stop sending me messages. It's pathetic. I am a married woman who is here to reconnect with old friends. Go away strangers!
All that really matters to me is my family, and as I have proven more than once, I will kick your ass if you bring them any harm. Now that I have threatened you, enjoy this slideshow of the evolution of mi familia..... FIN

My Interests

My children, History.. especially Victoriana, helping the underdog, getting free stuff, Photography, animals, righting wrongs, road trips, garage sales, obsessing on my weight and how old I am, reading, cooking, & outlet shopping
(hate PETA, love the poster)

I'd like to meet:

I don't like meat. See above.

Music:

I listen to 99% of all the music I hear in my car, but then again, I spend half of my life in that damn thing!....
Here's what I like: Showtunes. 1920's -70's country music (after that its all countrified pop music). 70's 80's Punk. 80's Hardcore & Ska. (there is a unexplainable irony to rockin out to the Vice Squad/Blitz comp you made when you were 17 while you drive your kids around in your fully loaded minivan. Oi! ). BARRY MANILOW (read it and weep, Carolyn!), certain Operas, and I generally like whatever my kids are into at the moment, which usually isn't too bad ;)

Movies:

Stella Maris, Metropolis, Tank Girl, Night of the Comet, White Christmas, Team America, From Justin to Kelly (because that is THE best movie of all time to laugh to!), Heathers, The Jerk, My Man Godfrey, Jeanette MacDonald/Nelson Eddy movies,Witchcraft Through the Ages (1922), The Shining, Becky Sharp, Titanic (yes, I know), Birth of a Nation, The Neverending Story, Oklahoma, A Leauge of Their Own, Malibu's Most Wanted, The Others, any silent movie and anything that brings back good memories for me, no matter how bad that movie may be (i.e Grease, Grease2, Savannah Smiles, Pete's Dragon, St. Elmo's Fire, etc).

Television:

Gilmore Girls. I Love the 80's. TV Nation. The Price is Right. The "Local Businesswomen" documentary that ran on CTV ("Like a Pheonix rising from the ashes...") Carolyn rocked that show. Law & Order. Mystery Science Theater 3000. The Daily Show.Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High from the 80's..but I like the new Degrassi too because its got the kids from the old Degrassi all growed up. National Geographic Channel. Biography. History channel. Extreme Home Makeover. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

Books:

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farm-house near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives the harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downyflake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

-Robert Frost

Heroes:

The world in which you were born is just one model of reality. Other cultures are not failed attempts at being you. They are unique manifestations of the Human Spirit. We are all heroes.
