Billy Burt Sauls, 73, of Ridgway, passed away 1:23 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home in Carrier Mills.He was born on Sept. 3, 1934, in Ridgway to Claude and Vina (Feazel) Sauls. Billy Burt married Susan Eileen Mizorek on March 26, 1976.Mr. Sauls was a retired guard at the State of Illinois Department of Corrections in Joliet. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Ridgway Church of God, and was very active in the Ridgway Masonic Lodge No. 816, Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596 in which he served as chaplain and belonged to the International Chaplain Association. Billy Burt is survived by his wife, Susan E. Sauls of Harrisburg; two daughters, Lisa Larson of Harrisburg and Laura and Amon Jones of Dixon, Ky.; one brother, Wilson Feazel of Shawneetown; four grandchildren, Jason Larson and Kansas Larson, both of Harrisburg, Jeremy Jones of Dixon, Ky. and Natalie Stone of Henderson, Ky.; and one sister-in-law, Stella Feazel of Ridgway.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe Feazel.Visitation for Billy Burt will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway with Masonic services at 7 p.m. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, with the Rev. Lyndal Sork officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway, with military services conducted by Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596.Mr. Edgar Lee Thomas, 57, of 1300 Johnson St., Eldorado, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at his residence.Edgar was born in Eldorado on June 6, 1950, the son of the late Floyd and Violet (Beattie) Thomas.He worked as a farm hand.Edgar is survived by a daughter, Shelley Lynn (Rick) Pickering of Harrisburg. Edgar is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Johns of Carmi, Maggie (Bernard) Miles of Junction and Nancy (Charles) Gobin of Cave-In-Rock; two brothers, Robert (Connie) Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla. and John (Sandy) Jackiewicz of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kristina Pickering, Nicholas Jones, Brandon Pickering, Richard Lee Pickering and Rishell Pickering, all of Harrisburg.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Caldwell.Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, with the Rev. Helen Whitney officiating. She married Eddie Ward on Nov. 17, 1974, in Tuscola. Eddie survives in Harrisburg.Cindy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg. She was a teacher for Harrisburg High School where she taught special education. She was very active with the Special Olympics. Cindy held a master's degree in education and was currently pursuing a master's degree in administration. In addition to her husband, Eddie, she is survived by three children, Tamara Ward of Washington D.C., John Michael Ward and wife Debra (Cox) of Edwardsville, Lindsay Ward of Harrisburg; a sister, Lawana "Cissy" Sigler and husband Jake of Tuscola; nieces and nephews, Cassie of Harrisburg, Shelby and Samantha Sigler of Tuscola, Tommy and Bobby Plunk of Odessa, William and Christine Ward of Oklahoma City, Okla.; special aunt and uncle, Peggy and R. B. Peterson of Rogers, Ark.; and brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Mary Alice Ward of Highlands Ranch, Colo.She was preceded in death by parents; brother, Tommy Dale "Bud" Plunk; niece, Carie Sue Sigler; and father-in-law, John W. Washington St., Carrier Mills, died 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident in Madison County.She was born Nov. 13, 1965, in Harrisburg to the late Fred and Gloria Sue (Cowsert) Feazel.She is survived by her companion, Charles R. "Dick" Field of Carrier Mills; a daughter, Natalie Rheude of Carrier Mills; a son, Nathan Rheude of Carrier Mills; four sisters, Debbie (Denzil) Perkins of Harrisburg, Wanda Cornell of Eichorn, Lori (Jay) Johnson of Norris City and Julie (Bruce) Murphy of Crab Orchard; an aunt, Hazel Agin of Harrisburg; seven nieces; six nephews; and a grandchild, Bree Anna Chaffin of Stonefort. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, at the funeral home.Eddie Hardin Sr., 55, of Harrisburg, passed away at 4:50 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2008, at Harrisburg Medical Center.Eddie was born on July 30, 1952, in Eldorado, to Marsellas Hardin and Corine (Cates) Hardin.Eddie is survived by four children, Elvis Hardin, Eddie Hardin Jr., Jessica Hardin and Jackie Hardin; three grandchildren, Cody, Dacyn and Hailei; his mother, Corine Hardin; two sisters, Mary Lou Griffith and Sharon Sheets; two brothers, Jim Hardin and William David Hardin; and his companion, Paula. He will be dearly missed. According to his wishes, he has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Eldorado. All family and friends are invited to attend.Arrangements are in the charge of Reed Funeral Chapel, Harrisburg.Smokey Joe Seely, 42, of Ridgway, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, from heart complications while out hunting.Smokey was born in rural Shawneetown, near the Ponds Settlement community, to the late Tom and Ruth (Gordon) Seely. Smokey was married June 15, 2005, to Mandy Jo (Lynch).By trade, Smokey was a carpenter, working many years in the area in home improvement and construction. He was self-employed as a carpenter. Smokey was a true outdoorsman. His love for nature was always present. He was a very skillful fisherman, with some people saying he could catch a fish in a mudhole. He was a very knowledgeable hunter, with coon hunting one of his favorites.Smokey was a good person, with a big heart, as he always was giving away his game to people in need.Smokey was a good husband, father, brother and friend and will be greatly missed by the community. He is survived by his wife, Mandy Jo (Lynch) of Ridgway; daughter, Morgan Jo Seely of Ridgway; son, Kyler Seely of Omaha; brother, Phillip (Patty) Seely of Galatia; sister, Lilly (Mike) Stokes of Norris City; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Marlene Lynch of Ridgway; and sister-in-law, Cathy Seely of Harrisburg; 10 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Mark Seely; and nephew, Christopher Seely.Visitation for Smokey will be after 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the Cox and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Powell will officiate and burial will be in the Westwood Cemetery near Shawneetown.
