About Me

Salvete Omnes! Well...I was born a farm boy in Mantua but went to school in Milan and Cremona and later wound up in Rome studying Epicureanism with Siron. I came back home to Mantua for a stint, until I was thrown off my farm around 41 (BC that is). Luckily, I had started hanging out with Maecenas, who knew all the right people and with him I would cruise down to Naples to hang out and meet big wigs like Octavian. I finished my first two books, the Eclogues and the Georgics around 30 and then started on my masterpiece~the Aeneid. Unfortunately, I died in 19 at the age of 50 before I could even finish the book. Although I told all my closest friends to burn the damn thing, they doctored it up and published it anyway. Oh well, I guess its for the best, and the rest, my friends, is history.
