Influences: Of course anybody from my city doing it because it gives me something to strive to & I'm not a hater. Unlike most rappers I give props where props is due, after all even though I'm the most spectacular MC I'm not the only ill MC on earth.Eminem (Probably the best lyricist but I'm from The D so maybe I'm biased) & D-12 (Shouts out to my man Proof that I grew up with,Kon Artist A.K.A Mr. Porter,Philpot,The reason I changed my rap name to Spectacular, it used to Mr. Smoove back in the day Mud & Thyme from 5 Ela, we all went to Osborn High School in Detroit together) Obie Trice (God wlll make sure whoever shot him pays for it) MC Breed the first to rep MI (Flint) Slum Village (My favorite Detroit hip-hop group besides Harmoni & Elzhi is one of my favorite MC's from Detroit or otherwise) R.I.P J.Dilla (My favorite producer & in my opinion the best ever other than Dr. Dre) His loss to the Detroit community is irreplacible but his legacy lives on. (Shout out to everybody that used to be at the hip-hop shop)The Notorious B.I.G (He was the illest) Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, Big Pun, Big L, (Probably would've took over the rap game) Chino XL, Ras Kass, Redman, Ludacris, Twista, Busta Rhymes (Underated one of my top 5 MC's), Mystikal, Fabulous, DMX, Jadakiss & The Lox, Camron, T.I, Slick Rick, Snoop Dog, Too Short (I'm a huge fan), E-40 (one of the most slept on) Scarface, Ice Cube & N.W.A, LIL Wayne, Cash Money (Hotboys era), Common Talib Kweli, Mos Def, The Roots, Gangstarr, Black Moon, Black Sheep, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Brand Nubians, Dela Soul, A Tribe Called Quest (In my opinion the greatest hip-hop group of all time and my favorite) Pharcyde, Souls Of Mischief, Outkast, Mobb Deep, The Wutang Clan (Method Man is ill) The Alkaholiks (slept on) & The Fugees (Lauryn Hill is the illest female artist). speaking of females I also like Missy Elliot (best all around female artist) Foxy Brown, Lil Kim, Da Brat (best flow of the females), Shawnna. Remy Ma, Rah Digga (best chick with the punchlines) Eve, Bahamadia & The Lady of Rage. I grew up listening to Salt N' Pepa, MC Lyte, Monie Love & Queen Latifah. We only have a handful of female rappers in the game so unlike most guys I support them.As far as old school rappers my favorite & my idol was Big Daddy Kane (probably my biggest influence, back in the day, he was what Jay-Z would eventually become), Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS One, Slick Rick, 2 Live Crew, Run D.M.C & LL Cool J (Longevity, still hot)
I knew once I heard these people that I wanted to rap. I started off writing poetry when I was a kid & figured that I might as well turn them in to raps.Outside of rap I love Neo Soul. I'm a fan of Anita Baker, Kem Dwele & Lathun (Repping The D) Musiq Soulchild (who sometimes reminds me of Jazz, he hates the comparison), Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Raphael Saddiq, D'Angelo, Angie Stone, Maxwell, Floetry, Glenn Lewis, Amel Larrieux, Sade, R.Kelly (The king of R & B), Mary J. Blige & Faith. My favorite old school aritsts are George Clinton (his old music is still banging) Stevie Wonder (Motown),Prince(for always been original & creative),who has'nt been influenced or inspired by Micheal Jackson? & I'm a fan of his sister Janet Jackson (she makes the freakiest slow songs) I also listen to jazz. Joe Sample is my favorite.I get compared to Common & Big Boi from Outkast all the time & although thats flattering please note that I would never bite any of these artists but they inspired me by just being good at what they do because when you hear good music it makes you want to create something just as good or better.
Sounds Like: Real hip-hop inspired by personal things I've experienced or what I see going on in life in general. Banging beats. Very Lyrical. My flow is kind of fast & I do a lot of songs for the ladies because I'm not a gangster or a thug but I'm not soft either. If I haven't experienced something I don't fake it or spit in my songs like some rappers do. Everything I spit is real talk. Musically my sound is mostly laidback to bump in your ride or at the crib, not too many club bangers yet. My music is underground but original because theres nothing else out here like it. I thrive on being & sounding different from everybody else. I hold my own thats why I called myself "The Soloist" I feel my lyrics & the beats I spit on are "Spectacular", hence my rap name but you listen & judge for yourself.
