New Jersey Metal Cartel

About Me

Feel free to add yourself as a friend. This page is just to share and explain NJMC with others. You're welcome to share this page with others also.
NJ Metal Cartel is a coalition of metal and heavy bands from the NJ area. The Cartel was started up by musicians for musicians to help one another through unity to self support our scene and build up bigger and better followings. It seems that many bands these days have forgotten how to use unity among eachother to create a more viable scene for their bands and the clubs alike. Bottom line, venues are a business and want to make money. If your band brings in more people, they will book you more and pay you more.
By supporting and helping each other we will have more shows, bigger crowds, stronger followings and a built in self supporting network of others we can always work with and count on. How? By going to each others shows, offering other bands slots on your booked shows, promoting shows for other bands, post myspace bulletins for each other, etc.. This in turn will bring more people out to shows, build larger followings, generate more interest from clubs, maybe make us a little more money and other benefits... Along with bands, in time we will try networking with clubs, venues, studios, labels, merch vendors, etc.... Occasionally we will also book and setup our own Metal Cartel shows at different venues.
We will try to keep everyone updated on as many bands shows as we can through emails and show postings on our web sites. We'll help to keep up motivation and help connect everyone and do as much as we can. We will be looking into trying to get membership benefits such as discounts for band merchandise, rehearsals, recordings and whatever else we can hook up. These benefits will be available to members only.
This page is new and all the minor details are still being worked out because The Cartel is new. We only have a few bands involved right now to begin building the catalyst for the whole organization. We are trying to build The Cartel from the ground up to be self supporting. This means that once it begins taking shape that it will take on a life of it's own. We will set up the terms of membership and provide the underlying support, but it will be up to all the bands to keep things moving. This will be easy if everyone does what they need to do to support each other.
We're also working on getting up our main web site. NJMetalCartel.com
Soon we will have our simple terms and conditions of membership posted as well as how you can help one another. There will also be a form to apply and be considered for membership. The main site will be a portal for everyone to connect with a show calendar, member forum, listings of clubs, studios and more... We will also start a MySpace Group soon too.
By the way, membership will be by personal invite only. We will be selective on who we allow into the coalition, because we need to see that your band will be willing to follow up ..ing and supporting others in our network. Membership will be a priveledge not a right. You are free to ask about joining, but we will need to learn more about you and find out what you're willing to do to support us and others involved. If you're not going to actively support, don't even bother asking to join. Being a member is free, all it takes is a little of your time and support. That's easy right?
We don't want a million bands involved who do nothing and are just looking for a free ride. And if you are involved, you wouldn't want others involved who do nothing either, because then it becomes pointless. All bands who are members will be responsible for their own actions. If you're found to not be supporting in any way on a continuing basis then we might have to let you go. Hopefully you understand why we need to do this. If you don't help support anyone else, then you know you're not and so will everyone else. So there's no excuse and it's simple, if everyone just supports some of the other bands we can keep a good self supporting network through unity. Doesn't that make sense?
